Not worth the time.

Pros

Mostly great customers and team members.

Cons

Management needs a refresher on its own policy’s and practices. Completely unfair treatment of team members with short pays and in some cases no pay, no acceptance of different identities. A revolving door of new staff that barely last the week because of pay rates or hours. Also a complete lack of any training procedures. Learn on your own and don’t complain but if you need help, call someone and we’ll get upset with you for doing it wrong. Zero chance of career advancement. They always outside hire. Always understaffed. I spent most of my hours in the store completely alone. Incredibly small budgets were always the excuse for the short staffing. Which in turn lost customers. It’s completely unprofessional to have one person in an entire store.

Pros

The team members are the only reason I am there. I honestly feel like I am apart of a family and can truely be myself. They are really flexible with hours and will always be willing to help you out if things get tough.

Cons

Minimum wage to the cent. Buyers are genuinely stupid and have no idea what sewers or crafters want. The store is becoming a two dollar shop. The store is huge yet we have one or two staff members on most of the time. No additional hours are given when we will clearly be busing in a fabric sale. Subsequently customers are mad at you. Online training videos are an actual joke. Management makes you feel like you are nothing and add no value to their store. But mostly buyers have no clue what is going on and then the store looks terrible. You stop getting paid when the store closes.. so no time to do recovery. This is why the stores are so messy. Understaffed and no time.

Good but not great job.

Pros

Sometimes it can be fun at work especially with fun co workers. I personally enjoyed the customer service side of things, looking after customers. Taking majority of phone calls and speaking about sales and other work things over our in-store microphone.

Cons

The expectations are way too high for staff members. They except you to work by yourself in a big department store and still be able to manage everything and take the time out to look after customers at the counter and on the shop floor. Minimal to zero help and apparently they hire anyone at work. Don’t do it. You deserve better.
