Pros

A largely shared sentiment amongst all has been the opportunity to work with talented, enjoyable and candid employees. During my time there, the friendships gained were invaluable, however, note that Linktree today is a completely different environment.

Cons

At a thematic level, Linktree unfortunately failed to achieve 3 core elements of any good workplace - autonomy to achieve outcomes, workplace culture and trust in leadership. The environment forbade fostering of true talent that employees were hired for. Skillsets and attitudes were adapted to follow instruction. Behaviours that did not challenge leadership nor decisions were rewarded. Ultimately, you know what’s at stake when an organisation is willing to allow employees to burn out, whilst painting a picture of “the best place to work”.

Pros

Some people are truly fantastic. Workforce is incredibly diverse.

Cons

Senior leadership has no clear direction. Unable or unwilling to understand that engineering and design makes or breaks a product not product managers or growth. Present themselves as "transparent" but are not honest. Pass all pressure down and blame Publicly pushes that they are safe and empathetic but senior leaders push for harsh timelines and performance reviews.

Pros

Very few genuinely good and professional people are still around, likely not for long now.

Cons

It wasn't the greatest place to work to start with not even during the best of times and now with the business being in a free fall lately things are becoming truly ugly. It's fascinating how hard the leadership worked to squander this opportunity and they certainly succeeded in doing so. If you check the reviews from a few years back it becomes rather evident that many foresaw this coming yet no efforts were made to avert this tragic outcome. There's a distinct lack of long-term vision or consensus on what lies ahead and most decisions seem random and chaotic. After rounds of redundancies including for those on parental leave they took the entire company off to Fiji for a week apparently to celebrate it. They announced their commitment to remote work then went ahead and opened a fancy new three-story office that remains mostly unoccupied. They squandered millions on external consultancies to work on projects that were never released. And now without any valid reason dozens of employees are put on Performance Improvement Plans as they aim to increase attrition and downsise even further.
