Great people in your team but upper management is awful.

Pros

Creative minds around you help achieve fantastic results under tight deadlines. Ability to learn gear and be hands on in multiple fields and not limited to your own area.

Cons

Upper level staff doesn't give the ability to achieve any growth within the company, look forward to a maximum pay increase of 3% to 4% if you exceed your job duties. Work over 45 hours per week consistently without any bonus pay or time off, many times without any notice.

Long term employee who treats people very poorly

Pros

There is always work to do because of the many shows/jobs that are booked and the amount of clients. My immediate supervisor has done great things since joining the company. I enjoy working with this person, as well as some of the other employees.

Cons

Poor leadership. There is a person who has been with Live for a long time who has been allowed to be abusive to people - particularly in the warehouse. He constantly interferes with processes, belittles people (makes them feel like idiots), is grouchy all the time, is disrespectful, and is often yelling. He also doesn't give clear instructions, and then blames the employees when things aren't done right. Because of his style, it creates an environment where people are afraid to take initiative because they will be yelled at. People also make more mistakes on the job when they feel rattled. They start to believe they are incompetent when that's not the case at all. There are talented people who were hired to work at Live, and really want to be there. People aren't saying anything because they are afraid of being fired.

If you any talent in the entertainment business. Whether you are a lighting, Video, or Audio person. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT LIVE!!! They have a variety of clients yes, But Management and sales people choose favorites. The equipment is okay in certain areas. If you go on tour with one of their clients they do not pay you touring rates. The pay is crappy when you know you are worth more. The turn over rate is extremely high. People change positions, all the former employees I've talked with who I come across Consider LIVE TECH.. One of the worse companies to work for in Columbus. I ended up leaving them and going onto Bigger Things!!!

It is reassuring that you found your calling and are working on projects that are better aligned with your expectations. LIVE! is very pleased with not only our competitive benefits package (Health, wellness, matching 401k, paid time off, etc…) but also with the opportunities in the company for promotions and career advancement. Although these opportunities may not have lined up with your timeline, they are regularly available for employees who are dedicated to leadership, taking on new responsibilities, and advancing their careers. Since our touring team is employed throughout the year, these benefits and opportunities are available to them as well. Combined with an annual salary and overtime, our compensation package fills out to be advantageous to those seeking a long term career. Considering our reputation amongst technicians in our region, we have a very high rehire rate. Many who leave a full time position for various reasons, will return in either a part or full time capacity. Although our turnover is currently around 10%, exit interviews indicate that turnover is mostly due to opportunities in family businesses or with positions elsewhere that will allow them to continue working alongside our team on a part time basis. Regardless of the reason, LIVE! makes efforts to celebrate these opportunities and continues to keep in touch with our extended family whenever possible.
