Not The Good Kind of Startup

Pros

* Freedom to use whatever tools you feel comfortable with * Nice office and workstation setup * Friendly and hardworking employees, couldn't have asked for better * Being a startup, your work has lots of impact

Cons

* Projects can be EXTREMELY stressful. Deadlines are often unrealistic and management will have no problem pushing employees beyond their limits. * Very low compensation at the time of writing this review. * Management knew each other before working here, and it felt like they played favourites A LOT. * I’m convinced those in charge are not passionate about the products they’re making, it seems like they just care about cashing out. * Everything was fantastic when I first started. Crunch times (fairly common) are when you discover what the company is really like.

Hey there - thank you for sharing your feedback with us, it is certainly valuable as we grow and learn as a company. Working in a startup comes with great opportunities such as working with cutting edge VR/AR technology - however, we know that when pushing the boundaries of this tech, projects can get stressful and we need to work together. This exciting space comes with many unknowns, as we push through together to achieve our desired results. We frequently seek feedback from employees on how we can build or improve our processes to deliver the best experiences we can. We also recognize and reward employees who go above and beyond what is expected, and embrace our shared values of shipping quality products and working as a team.

Thank you for your comments. I'd like to provide some thoughts around this, as it is valuable. You are correct - we have had turnover. Building a data-driven company with the sort of vision we have, takes hard work and dedication - and we are growing up as a company. Objectively speaking, a testament to our amazing team's success and culture here is the success and happiness of our customers, the many awards we are winning, and the incredible career growth opportunities our people have. We're incredibly proud of our current team and all that they have and continue to achieve! With regards to your feelings, I'm disappointed to hear this - so if there are specific issues you would like to discuss I would appreciate to hear from you directly so we can continue to improve.

Pros

* Weekly call outs of the positive impacts team members have made throughout the week * Relaxed atmosphere with lunch time gaming sessions and after work social events * 360/upwards constructive feedback to keep all employees focused on positive improvement * No toxicity with management/senior leadership * Work is constantly showcased at major events and conferences, lots of press coverage and recognition * Company is poised to go big quickly but small enough that each team member can make a large impact

Cons

* Occasional tight deadlines that lead to overtime, this has constantly improved year over year however.
