This company has become a toxic place. Everyone is leaving, while management is trying to hide their desperation. The few remaining employees are either burning out or have already totally given up trying to be productive, as there is no hope for anyone.
Management, unfortunately, does not seem to have any clue what they're doing, and instead of just being honest with people and listening to feedback, they just keep on with some fake positivity and even say people are leaving for "other better opportunities." No, people are leaving because they can't stand it anymore; let's please be honest. The fact that leadership is so detached from what is going on in the company makes everything much worse, as there's no space for having a proper dialogue and trying to make things better.
There are so many unethical things being done by management, and so many lies being told, that it would be easy to write a book about how not to run a company. In one week, there's an official communication saying no layoffs will happen, only for 1/5 of the company to be fired the following week. Promotions and career progression are nonexistent, as there's always some excuse for why you didn't achieve the goals. The internal company policies change all the time, be it regarding time off, benefits, remote working, etc. It's not worth writing more examples here. If you're curious, you can easily reach out to former employees and ask. You'll be shocked.
From the outside, Localyze looks like a happy family trying to help society, but inside, people are just miserable. It's very easy to see the shine fade away after a couple of weeks every time a new person joins. The employee churn has hit an all-time high, where very often people are leaving (or being fired) within their probation period. The company is rapidly shrinking, now having less than 50% of the total employees compared to two years ago.
Management is desperately trying to hide this and is pretending "everything will get better next year," while pretty much every single employee can clearly see that everything is just the result of all the huge mistakes made by the founders. There are rumors that the company will be sold soon, as not even the founders trust that it can be recovered.
I, like pretty much everyone still in the company, have given up trying to help management, as they just don't want to listen to anything and believe they're on the right path. It's sad. My suggestion for everyone considering joining the company is: don't waste your energy here; it's not worth it.
