Pros

- No worries about the company running out of money. - Freedom to pick your own goals and projects if you can grasp the opportunity. - Tackling misinformation is extremely interesting work.

Cons

- My main reason for writing a review is to warn future employees of how much the CEO lies and misleads, which is very ironic given the company's aim is to halt misinformation. Don't take anything the CEO tells you for granted. Everyone I saw get hired at the company went through a phase of realisation that tech capabilities they thought the company had already developed did not yet exist. We were told clearly by the CEO that we had investors but this turned out not to be true. - The CEO has a range of less important flaws: lacks management skills, lacks common sense, impossible to pin down for meetings, lacks punctuality and respect, avoids transparency. - Pay is often miscalculated or paid late. - CEO has a bed in the office.

Pros

-Flexible remote work -Interesting problem of mis- and disinformation

Cons

-Lack of competent leadership throughout the organisation. Most managers are inexperienced and clueless about their day to day responsibilities. CEO lacks vision and drive. Quite arrogant without hard work or credentials. -Lack of meritocracy. Be prepared to prostrate regularly to management if you want to survive long term. -Lack of transparency. Worse still, management employs lies and misinformation ironically. -Lack of collaborative environment. If you don’t suck up to already existing cliques, you will not be given impactful work and thrown into the deep end to do a lot of grunt work. -Extremely low quality standards. For example, I was pulled into a six month project to deliver a report 8 weeks ahead of the deadline. During the writing of the report, there was virtually zero support from manager or colleagues who interacted with the client and agreed on deliverables. When I mentioned being concerned about not being able to meet client expectations with existing data, I was asked to cut copy paste from previous work without worrying about data, experimental method or ethics. Once I finished the report working weekends though, everyone became an armchair expert at it. Even colleagues with zero background in AI or NLP or Data Science or computational linguistics. Managers are least concerned about such quality issues. If you point these out and ask for better processes, you will become the public enemy. -Lack of interdisciplinary approach when it comes to problem solving. More focus on buzzwords than understanding the problem domain. -Many individuals with underhanded behaviours and engaging in energy sucking from others without doing the hard work themselves. During my time there, I saw quite a few talented workers being pushed out on the basis of lies and manipulations and I too eventually experienced the same. -Remuneration behind the market standard
