Lomond acquired the company I worked for and immediately held a presentation emphasising how much they value and care for their people. Shortly afterwards, the original company was dissolved and merged into another part of the business. Long-standing colleagues—some with decades of industry experience—were made redundant with just four days’ notice. Those who remained were placed into diminished roles and, over the following months, were either pushed out or paid off. Throughout this period, Lomond’s head office continued to circulate generic emails highlighting their commitment to employee wellbeing and mental health, which felt deeply at odds with the reality on the ground. Before the acquisition, I genuinely loved my job and was highly motivated to contribute to the company’s success. Since the takeover, that enthusiasm has disappeared. I now dread coming to work, and the impact on my morale and wellbeing has been obvious not only to me but to those around me.
