Pros

The beer suppliers and accounts you handle treat you better than the company you work for. Occasional free beer to sample. The future is always bright and always something better on the horizon. Keep searching and you’ll find what you’re looking for. Fortunately, there’s thousands of companies to work for. I just don’t recommend this one.

Cons

Let me just say, I was not fired, forced out, bitter, or sour. I quit and I’m simply stating what I witnessed with my own two eyes over a course of 2 years while employed here. I made a mistake joining this company... so if I can help someone who has good morals, like myself, not make the same mistake, then my job here is complete. Good luck everyone and I hope this helps. - Constant turnover. That should tell you all you need to know about this “family company”. New drivers every week because the company doesn’t want to pay and the work load is too great. New warehouse people all the time because of poor compensation and the majority had a hard time speaking simple English. When you employ illegals, you can pay them dirt and get all the manual labor you want out of them. -Favoritism/Nepotism. All upper management is intertwined and married to each other’s brothers/sisters making them brother-in laws, sister-in laws. I’ll just say that the upper management takes care of each other and each other only. Zero equality - Poor, bare minimum health benefits. It’s a third class insurance company with expensive co-pays. Prepare to get hooked up at Walmart for some reading glasses and not a real doctor. - Compensation pay: Extremely underpaid for the work being done everyday. At least 10-15k below the standard pay for other distributors. - Deductions: This Company will dock your pay for the most simple and ridiculous things. If you’re in any type of accident with a company vehicle they will force you to sign a shortage slip allowing them to dock your pay. DO NOT sign this slip! You are essentially paying for their insurance deductible and damages that may have occurred. Demand an estimate of the damages before signing anything. If you sign, you are going based off their word and their word is nothing to write home about. You will have no way of knowing what you’re paying for and how much you’re paying for. Be smart!! They are stealing your money!! You will also get docked for calling in sick without any vacation time left, even with a doctors note!! Business practices: This company was constantly breaking and bending the law anyway they can to save a buck or screw someone over. Unethical business practices will catch up to them one day. They are dangerous people and I wouldn’t trust them with my kids. Not the greatest people. All people can put on a front but beware, those fronts disappear at someone point and the real person shows through. Work load: Exceedingly high. Too many accounts for too little pay. They refuse to hire anyone else to help with the workload. Commission Pay: You are paid straight commission. Zero base. The funny thing is, is no matter how much or how little you sell, your pay will always be the same. They also don’t give you a break down as to what you’re getting the commission on. If I’m up 20% from PY, then how is my pay the exact same every month 🤔🤔. These territories/routes make millions of dollars each year and you bring home 30k. Something is not right here. Access card: You’re not allowed to enter the offices to speak with anyone. Example: If you needed to report a company issue, you’re not allowed to discreetly speak with HR without getting permission first. The problem is HR is also best friends with the owner so nothing is discreet at this “family company.” GPS: You are tracked and listened to through the company car and company phone. The company can tap into a program on your phone that is used everyday and watch you personally. Promotions: If you are promoted, you will need to be in the inside somehow. I’ve watched a number of excellent employees be passed by because a few employees were college teammates on the football team. One breeds the other. If you don’t know anyone personally, you will need to kiss some butt and be a “yes man” until that day happens. Hard working people are dead in this company. Resigning: In the interview, they will stress about putting your 2 weeks in. DO NOT! They will immediately let you go once this happens. Take care of yourself first. Quit on a Friday and start your new job on Monday. Company Holiday Party: There isn’t one. Well there is but only for upper management and some beer suppliers(Only their favorite suppliers). If you’re in sales, office, warehouse, a driver or anyone who does actual work for the company, you are not recognized or thanked. You are given your choice of a frozen ham or turkey as a Christmas gift. Apparently upper management are the only ones who matter as they get liquored up and their belly’s full for the holiday season. - Inventory: Serious inventory issues make it difficult to keep accounts happy and money in your pocket. Something is always out of stock. - Chain of Command : Issues were not to be discussed unless it was with your immediate supervisor. You were not allowed to email or call any upper management without going to your immediate supervisor.

Pros

Long Beverage is a typical, modern distributor. Anyone with any experience in the field will not be surprised by the current state of affairs. It is growing consistently. Macro efficiency is invested in heavily, ie. warehouse upgrades, hardware, offices.

Cons

Growth seems to be a concept the company refuses to deal with at its bottom level. "Boots on the ground" labor is skimped on, both financially and physically, rewarding the better employees with "bigger shovels", and opting to accept diminished quality in exchange for a temporary, greater financial return, eschewing long-term strategy at the bottom level. Long Beverage is a typical, modern distributor.
