Pros

None I can think of

Cons

I want to start this off by saying it has taken me a bit to write this. I wanted to be able to step back and rationally evaluate the company. I figured that like most things in life, the further removed you were from a situation, the less strongly you would end up feeling about it. Loretto Hospital is the rare exception where I feel now as I did when I was working for them: get out before you're trapped in a soul sucking company with no actual room for growth or future to be excited about. Lets start here. The main thing about Loretto is that almost every succesful person there realizes its dead end nature. And the sadder part is that the other people who stay know this as well but they're too scared to "take a risk" and give up the bloated base salaries. It is a smart way to keep your decently successuful employees. My next point is that leadership at Loretto Hospital (the CEO) loves to let the outside world know how great they are. Have you seen the news? Loretto has a history of hiding things under the rug to save the administration. The CEO loves to say Loretto is like a family. This makes you scratch your head when you see how they treat people with actual families. The managers will be the first to gaslight you and and no one take any responsibility for anything they do. Long story short, Loretto looks decent on paper at first glance. If there's anything I want people to get out of reading this, its that life's too short to be complacent. Go somewhere where you don't have to settle for a large base and nothing else. Go somewhere where your leadership can look you in the eye and tell you what they envision for the future. Go somewhere where you won't wake up every day feeling like groundhog's day. Because if you don't, I can promise you you'll be the next person to write a review like this.

Pros

The salary for social workers are on the higher pay end. Some of the staff members are nice. The patient experience is a plus, you will gain a lot of face to face experience. You will learn a lot of discharge planning and how to perform multiple jobs. I will say I'm stronger professionally due to my short span employed at this place. You will value the education and class you're accustomed to, and hold on to both tightly.

Cons

High school-like environment. The case management department is interesting to say the least. You will have changing job description which you will learn randomly throughout your time there. You will not be notified of ALL meetings in a professional manner, some will be held on your absence on purpose to plot against you. The environment was extremely toxic and hostile after a few months. There is no union for social workers so you're basically left to sink or swim. Should you manage to swim, false accusations will flourish to Anchor you down regardless. It's truly setup for failure. I would advise any social worker to proceed with caution. I did not receive any clinical supervision as there was no clinical supervisor to provide it. Based on my experience, clinical workers work well with clinical direction. I did not receive anything close here. Watch your back and document EVERYTHING!! Be prepared to tolerate a lot, late nights, unreasonable work expectations, you will earn every dollar of your 'salaried' income. Social workers are pretty much extinct here and trust me it's for a good reason. Advice: Trust no one here!!

Pros

The patient's are the reason I keep coming back everyday. Love some of my co workers.

Cons

Terrible, terrible culture here. They only want to hire Indians, but it's in a predominately African American area. Beware of this place that only wants to see African Americans/Hispanics in non clinical and non management positions. The CEO is unprofessional and doesn't respect executive management or others who work at this hospital. Your voice will not be heard and you will be forced to sit through 'yet another town meeting' where no real figures are displayed, but you will be told that 'the hospital is doing good'.
