Pros

Secure Job, some nice people

Cons

Cliquey, very judgy, promotions and raises refused if you are not "in" with certain groups. Do not train you as they say they would, instead you are left to learn yourself or sink.

Awful Pay,

Pros

Good work culture, nice people, collaborative atmosphere. When you are on a good project, you can really get some great work done and learn a lot.

Cons

Awful pay, this is probably the biggest issue I can see for junior and mid-level staff, it simply is not enough to have a decent quality of life in or near a major city. Just because you can get great talent for the lowest possible wage, doesn't mean they will perform at all well at that wage, people need incentives that simply are not there below senior level. Not any clear pathway to progression, and progression seems to really hinge on which projects you are on, or how readily your manager will advocate for you. I understand this is par for the course, but seems particularly problematic at Lucid.

Pros

The company offers a solid benefits package, including generous annual leave and a strong end-of-year profit share bonus. Job security is generally good, and there are occasional opportunities to work on interesting projects depending on team allocation.

Cons

Pay feels incredibly uncompetitive, and not what would be expected of this career. Salary bands are not clearly communicated, and salaries seem to vary widely within career bands. For junior roles especially, the starting salary feels incredibly low relative to the industry. Career progression is unclear and inconsistent. Promotion criteria are not transparent, and expectations seem to vary depending on the team or manager. At times, progression is tied to project completion, which feels unfair due to frequent team and project changes, and due to projects being unorganised. There initially seemed to be a strong focus on skilling up their junior staff, however this has become more inconsistent over time. There also seems to be a growing use of Performance Improvement Plans, without any prior support, feedback or warnings that the employee is underperforming. Overall morale in some teams, particularly within co-dev projects, feels low. This doesn't seem to be being addressed, and there seems to be little in place to understand or improve employee sentiment. More time should be spent acknowledging that morale can be low, and trying to improve this, rather than ignoring it.
