No leadership, no strategy, no profit-focus
Pros
Laid-back culture Nice office and location
Cons
No cost control or governance in many areas of the business. Focusing on profit is a new concept for the company and is not embedded within the culture. Systems are a joke and light-years behind those of your average FMCG. Processes are absent or flawed across the business. No acknowledgement when things go wrong and challenging business-partners on performance is not encouraged. Until now there has been no strategy aside from promote everything, everywhere constantly. Leadership doesn't have the courage to make big decisions such as cutting loss-making propositions, enforcing governance or demonstrating leadership when sales crashed following the product reformulations. Many areas of the business are under-resourced so work-life balance is not great but the leadership is unsympathetic towards this. Turnover is astonishingly high resulting in people being promoted too soon, out of their depth and a real lack of good people managers.
