Pros

The patients and residents have so many stories and life lessons to offer. Coworkers are generally very helpful. Pay and quality of environment is higher than most facilities in the northwest suburbs

Cons

Lack of transparency from management about important decisions that affect the employees and residents/patients. Benefits are not great. High turn-over. Many nurses and CNA’s are burnt out, over worked and not adequately compensated for the work they do. Care more about their bottom line than what will benefit the residents and staff Poor communication Lack of respect for employees Bend over backwards for families unreasonable requests and advises staff to cater to them further. Passive aggressive management style

Pros

I thoroughly enjoyed working at Lutheran Home, albeit a short time there. It was refreshing to see a lot of longevity within the staff, and know that employees genuinely liked working there. I also appreciated the fact that I received instructions and training from day one, something I had never experienced. The schedule I had was very manageable, and I had a generous amount of PTO saved, in which I was able to use and enjoy. I finally had semblance of a life outside of work. Lastly, I adored my co-workers. They were the best group I have worked with thus far in my career. Everyone was supportive, caring, friendly, and made it fun to work everyday. Thank you Lutheran Home for wonderful experience filled with friendly, caring staff.

Cons

While it is a positive trait to have longevity within the staff, it does make it difficult to advance to a higher level position if no one ever leaves.

Pros

Residents are mostly friendly and grateful. I think Pastor Paul is the only true Christian I met there.

Cons

Management does not communicate. It took me several calls, emails, texts, etc. to get put down for any shifts or get any attention or a response to my inquiries. I may as well have not had a job. They finally terminated me for some BS reason that I could easily disprove. Great. At least now I can file for unemployment until I get with a better organization which should be easy. They certainly don't practice Lutheran values. Plus the pay and the insurance are cheap.
