Pros

The benefits such as health and dental care are pretty good. 401k match is okay, takes too long to vest.

Cons

There are two major items missing from Lutz's culture: Diversity and Compassion. First, the lack of Diversity - This is a very homogenous environment and if you are not white and privileged do not expect to excel. Secondly, the lack of Compassion - Expect to work for management hard and if you have other priorities outside of Lutz expect there to be no compassion for your situation. In fact, I saw partners leverage employees circumstances to their benefit. Lastly, a few reviews back there was a comment about it being a "Frat-like" environment. This is not only correct, but it is embraced. Essentially, Lutz is a good place to work if you are young, white and single and without a family.

Pros

Free snacks and soda, decent coffee, donuts and bagels every Friday, endless supply of hard liquor and beer

Cons

Many fun times can be had if you can fit into the fraternity, but your day-to-day work is absolutely miserable regardless of that hurdle. You must be willing to become a slave to this timesheet system that they enforce like fascists. You can expect to spend at least 4-6 hours per week filling this garbage out, making up phony hours that they bill 150-200/hr for, and writing dumb comments just to make management happy. It's a joke and they try to play it off as normal and expect you to just get used to it. When you go take a poop, it goes on your time sheet as "Lost Time" and they track all of these charge codes and compare you to others and criticize your averages. It's all about the numbers and that is exactly what you are when you work here. The variety of software that you work on is undoubtedly the worst in all of Omaha, a conglomeration of endless amateur mistakes held together with duct tape and bubble gum. Senior management thinks the software is the best thing since sliced bread, except they have not purchased a single loaf of sliced bread in over 15 years. Their top developer lives in a cave and when you mention sql injection to him he just says "what???". On top of all of this misery, you are forced to deal with disgruntled clients directly. You will get phone calls, emails, voicemails, emails of transcribed voicemails, faxes, and last I heard they are working on a way to trigger the amber alert system on your home televeision in case you leave your cell phone in the other room. You have to be expected to drop everything you're working on at all times. It is impossible to get anything done unless you are working remotely. You are setup to fail. Naturally, turnover within the tech department is alarmingly high, but they are in such denial they have endless laundry list of excuses for why people leave, none of which are "this job blows and we dont pay well". The work environment is extraordinarily loud and includes tons of disgusting profanity and sketchy topics that just get worse when the alcohol comes out. Overall there is just very little positive to say about working at Lutz in the software development space, the management is totally ignorant and very inconsiderate, I am not even sure they belong in this industry.

Pros

It's a fairly nice office space.

Cons

Lutz Tech wants you to believe they are a hip, dynamic, awesome place to work with incredible benefits, but the reality is actually quite different. It’s a rudderless ship with an egotistical captain at the helm and a crazy backstabbing first mate. When storms approach and the ship starts taking on water, they send their best crew to bail. Once the storm has subsided they turn on that same crew and throw them overboard. I’ll end the ship analogy here. The bottom line: I saw many clients leave that could have been saved had there been a bit of care and compassion, but just like with their internal employees this is completely missing. I have worked and meshed with many different companies and cultures, but Lutz’s toxic behavior and diversity-blind attitudes were just too much. I couldn’t jump off this ship fast enough. If you’re here looking to see if its a good place to work, it’s not. I can tell you that they coerce their employees to filling out surveys and award nominations positively to make them seem like a good place to work. I’m sure that some of the positive surveys here on Glassdoor are the work of some of the coerced. When you go to Amazon do you read the 5 star reviews? No! You read the one star reviews. I urge you to read them here and beware.
