Account manager role is glorified admin and customer service. You won’t feel like you are able to get to know and manage clients yourself as others feel they have to be on all your calls and take over with no room to make things your own and grow. To do lists have to be gone through every day with the manager/team, constantly been asked what you are doing every half hour and told the length of time you should be spending doing a task - micromanagement at its finest! No induction, training plans or process documentation in place in a company which has been around for nearly a decade. Made to feel like you are working too slow when you are still trying to learn what you are doing which is made harder with lack of said process documentation or training. No company phone, yet you are forced to put your own mobile number on emails signatures and do international calls on your own mobile. Shocking! Don’t have the facilities to manufacture enough products quick enough so constantly having to tell customers we can’t fulfil their orders. Don’t have the proper business account for Zoom, meaning we were limited to 40 minute calls which comes across as very unprofessional if we had to cut a call short with a client. They use gmail instead of outlook which I have never come across in a business before. Everything must be on Google docs/Google sheets and heaven forbid you forgot to give someone access to a document or you shared a link which was still a normal excel file it would have been the end of the world… Salary not reflective of education and experience as everyone seems to be paid the same regardless of degrees and number of years of experience. Minimum holidays and break time given with zero benefits (no healthcare, company pension or sick pay). Taking any time off seems to be a massive ordeal, asking for a half day on a Friday first thing on a Monday is short notice apparently. A full handover has to be done with team if you are off for even 1 day, and you must not be off on the same day as anyone else even though the entire office can be off on bank holidays. Staff constantly working into late hours of the night which shows a severe lack of care towards staff as this seemed to be a normal and daily occurrence. Work life balance does not seem to exist within Marq Labs and forced people into the office while the UK was still in full lockdown last year. Threatening, bullying and back stabbing behaviour from multiple senior managers and a very toxic and unpleasant environment. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Cons

Upper management value money over basic human empathy. You will not be listened to and you shouldn't expect to be supported. Intimidation tactics are everything here.
