Not at all flexible; bad HR.

Pros

Not many. Coworkers are certainly a plus and they type of work is fulfilling. Could be a great opportunity for young graduates entering the workforce; but needs a few changes.

Cons

To treat a group of young upwardly mobile college graduates like children is just bad form. It is a different world, you need to accommodate the needs of your staff that work hard for you. If I need to move a lunch by 30 minutes to go to the Drs let me. If I need to leave 30 minutes early on occasion to see my kid in a school play, let me. You expect, and I always will stay to take care of my patients, but your rigid response to my needs will get you high turnover fast. To have salaried employees and not pay OT but expect people to be flexible and work, but not be flexible back, is just awful.

Worst Job of my APRN Career

Pros

Home visits keep you out of the typical office setting and increases autonomy. It is a good service to the patients in need.

Cons

1. The hours. You will spend 16+ hours per day working this job, yet only get paid for the actual patient visits which may only be 8-10 or less per day. That's right, you will make $400-500 for a 16 hour day. 2. If they determine something was not charted correctly or the member shouldn't have been seen (for example, because they have another PCP) you will not be paid for doing the visit even though the patient is on your schedule. 3. You will be bombarded with messages that must be answered, many on patients you have never seen or met. 4. The training is a joke.

Pros

It's a truly valuable service for patients who reward you with stories of gratitude.

Cons

Extremely toxic work environment, incredibly unethical and unlawful discriminatory treatment of employees. Upper mgmt has great intentions as far as the service the company provides but internally is incredibly negligent in allowing the HR to continue with the unethical decisions and conversations she engages in - and the atmosphere of fear is thick, the office staff has seen it time and time again... if someone speaks up, HR will fire them. And unfortunately there isn't anyone in mgmt to hear these concerns because they simply don't have the time of day.
