I joined this company excited to be an integral part of the renovated Omaha Riverfront. The excitement quickly faded however once I realized they treat employees completely different based on the position you are in. If you are a part of the "Operations" team you are forced to park a half mile away and walk all the way up to a separate building just to clock in. You are left out of important meetings and generally treated like you don't matter to the "office staff" and upper management. There is next to NO communication from department to department, and our job duties are not even close to what is stated in the job description for a Horticulture Technician. Instead of taking care of plants and soil, you will be spending hours blowing dirt off sidewalks, cleaning off tables and trash cans, removing trash from the park, and doing other busywork such as moving other departments tents around for events etc. There is no greenhouse or nursery for the horticulture department and in general it is a maintenance position with another name. There is no recognition or support from upper management when it comes to issues we see within the park that was opened about 2 months too soon. Plants are dying everywhere because we are not allowed to replace them until the contractor deems in necessary. Stay away from this train wreck of a company that is MECA.
