Pros

Continues to employ a few strong, talented, passionate, motivated people you would be privileged to work with or for at any point in your career.

Cons

I started to type direction-less, but I believe the reality far worse. I will be amazed if this company is not bankrupt once they lose their largest Customer (Community Health System). The CEO (Bill Anderson) and the board are clinging to the fool-hearted idea they will lead the company to go public and subsequently provide themselves with retirement parachutes. The amount of net growth the company has seen in the seven years since HMS bought and became MEDHOST is the proof they are trading in fools gold. They ran the most qualified CEO (Craig Herrod) out the door in a continuation of Bill's flawed leadership and vision. His arrogant style of leadership has infected the leaders below him, creating a frat-boy culture of bitter ineptitude. This, in turn, has lead to the creation of a cutthroat and politically-motivated clique that will turn their back on you at any moment. This may sound like an unfortunately typical example of Corporate America. I may also sound like a jaded former employee with the sole goal of smearing the company who treated me so poorly after so many years of service. As always, you are welcome to discount me as a blowhole and continue laughing at my review. However, I would urge you to do the following: If you are currently an employee, ask yourself if any of what I have written is true. If you think it is not, ask others. If they agree, one of us is completely out of touch with reality and the natural course of time will resolve that for all of us. Alternatively, if you think any of what I have written is true, ask yourself if you are part of the problem or the solution. Do not sacrifice yourself, your career, your morals, your ethics, or your humanity for a company or its leaders that would sooner expel you for their failings than reward you for your integrity. There are leaders in the world who value their employees and base their success on your success. If you seek them out, they will welcome you. If you are a prospective employee, do not take only my word as reason to avoid this company. Continue with your own research. Ask your contacts in this niche field for their experience. Look online to find a hospital near you using any of the MEDHOST products and go visit that hospital. Walk around and see how the environment is from a patient perspective. Ask employees about their satisfaction with MEDHOST. Above all, follow your intuition. Your gut-instinct tends to be right.

Mid upper management vastly behind the times

Pros

Great analysts and developers. Made lasting friendships

Cons

There are a lot of great people still working at MedHost, but many are being driven away by a tier of middle upper management who has simply lost touch...with their employees, with technology, with customers, with industry needs. While moving to a new technology stack is a must for the company, MedHost fails to realize that the supporting legacy database must either be modernized or the new stack must utilize a new database. The management team responsible for this is unwilling to take a step in either direction. It is also apparent the uppermost level of management is not as concerned with a quality product or happy and productive employees, but instead, in the appearance of a solid bottom line. This has been achieved by sweeping RIF's and bringing to market products that are shoddily built--not due to lack of effort, but to lack of time and hurrying the products to market before they are ready

Pros

This field has a 20 word minimum. I can't think of a 20 words for this company that would classify as a "pro"

Cons

MICRO -MANAGEMENT down to the literal second. Second. Literally. Very strict schedule. Bathroom, lunch, break anything you do during the time you are at work for the day is on a set strict schedule and is micro managed. Employees are replaceable and you are made to feel that way too. In other words, if you don't like it you can leave and don't let the door hit you. Employees with 15 even 20 years service are leaving this company. Management gets promoted not on their skills or knowledge but on their willingness to go back stab or "kiss up". Very sickening.
