Pros

Good co-workers, and variety of work

Cons

Huge organizational problem with scheduling, managing, and estimating time needed to complete projects. CEO and project managers are repeatedly putting employers under tight schedule with poor judgments. Management group shows no interests in developing and mentoring new employees. Company's rule book, including rules about using PTO are constantly changed to benefit the employer. No incentives or bonuses for doing outstanding work or completing projects before deadline. Even though it had tripled in size over the past few years, both in terms of employers, clients, and projects intake, this company still has no wage structure. A high turnover rate since management spends very little effort in developing a positive corporate culture. The last department lunch was a year ago, and get together events rarely ever happens. These meetings mostly happen within the management group .

Pros

Hourly pay, so you will get paid overtime.

Cons

This is what is called "Call Center CAD", meaning there is no ownership of your work. There are no projects, there is no team or group. You come in, check the task board, do the task, assign it back, pickup another. All day, every day. This leads to some of the more unscrupulous drafters doing a poor job in the hopes they wont be the ones who have to fix it after review. This is a common tactic at MGC, one that I had pointed out before in my yearly review but was ignored. You're going to be working with alot of drafters, some are competent, most are not. This stems from MGC hiring practice of bringing on anyone who ever used AutoCAD at any point in their lives, ever. Even if it was 20 years ago. How does that work? Well the CAD Leads are suppose to teach them how to do their jobs, and usually have to just do the work for them. So pro tip, do not accept the offer to become a CAD Lead. They made me the offer after only a 1 year. Most drafter only last 6 months, so I guess that makes sense. I turned it down., you should too because you will only have more job responsibilities, not an increase in pay. The CAD group is also pretty toxic in general. During my time there I had lunch thrown in the trash, personal property broken, and my bicycle and car were tampered with. Management doesn't care. Also pro tip, although they say that employees can come talk to them about concerns or complaints, this is a trap. If you complain about most issues you'll quickly be terminated. I have seen it happen to many people. One last tip, if you're going to resign from the job, just leave. Do not bother with a 2 week notice because they will not acknowledge it and mark you as "terminated" anyways.
