Pros

- Entrepreneurial - High visibility to leadership - Initially attracts talented, motivated talent - Start-up environment - Innovative products / projects / initiatives - Work / life balance: Flexible schedule

Cons

- All executive leadership is tightly interwoven from long standing relationships - HR frankly does not give a damn - Environment stands to stump even the most talented change leader - Low talent retention rate due to lack of leadership direction, participation and interest

Pros

Cool, cutting-edge work Network continues to grow and get a higher profile High-profile programming Really strong digital philosophy Great place to learn / perfect for self-starters Friendly work environment People are passionate / dedicated Entrepreneurial culture in a big media company Work with three movie studios Lots of access to senior execs (including the CEO) Opportunity to grow / get promoted as network grows You're working at a television network!! At the start, let me say that EPIX is not for everyone (see "cons" below). But if you're entrepreneurial, want to learn, are eager for an opportunity, like doing new things and being challenged, then I think this may be one of the best media companies to work at. You will work hard, but there is an awesome sense of accomplishment that comes from building something. And you get recognized and rewarded for that hard work too. I have seen lots of people get promoted at different levels. I've seen executive assistants grow to be coordinators and managers in programming and digital. I have seen smart, talented people get promoted from Director to VP very quickly--much faster than at any other media company I worked at before. The things these people had in common were that they were really dedicated and worked hard. Anyone else on this site who says otherwise just has sour grapes (and since EPIX is not for everyone, I can understand why it didn't work out for them). Lots of people who were at the network before it launched are still there, so I think that speaks well to retention. There have been people who left EPIX for other jobs, but then eventually came back to EPIX. It says a lot that they wanted to come back, and I think it also says a lot that they were welcomed back. Overall, it is a great opportunity to work at a small network that has huge backing and is successful, so to me, that makes EPIX unique. Because it's a small company, you will work on projects that are more high-level than what your peers at other networks are working on (for instance, EPIX has done really interesting deals on the digital side). The people are friendly and everyone is collaborative. The CEO even walks around every morning to talk to the staff. There is a level of accessibility to senior execs that you won't get anywhere else. On company initiatives, you will work closely with people in other departments. All of these are things that are nice about being at a smaller company. I like start-ups and I like being part of a team that is building something, so I really do love working at EPIX. Every day is something new and that makes the job exciting. I would encourage you to interview and judge for yourself!

Cons

Start-Up Culture: I think it's a great place to work, but it is not for everyone. Not everyone is comfortable in a start-up culture. If you don't like a fast-pace or being challenged by doing new things, then this is not the place for you. I realize that's not really a "con" but it is something for job applicants to consider. Big projects but also little stuff: Because it's a small company, you will work on projects that are more high-level than you might otherwise work on anywhere else, but conversely, you also end up doing some things that might typically be done by someone more junior. These are the plusses and minuses of a small company. Overall, I think the upside and the opportunity are awesome here.

Pros

Great culture. Great People. Fast paced and innovative. Surrounded by talented industry leaders with a wealth of knowledge to share. Small org provides an opportunity for gain exposure to work that you would not normally have access to at a much larger no with layers.

Cons

Fast paced.... things often changing. To succeed you must be someone who can adapt to this type of an environment. Strong personalities require personal strength as well. Must be strong enough to make sure that your voice is heard,
