Pros

In short, MIM Software is likely the ideal place to work. They do a lot of things right as a company and by their employees. They have a very "West Coast" atmosphere. Large, open floorplan with minimal offices. Leisure area to play video games, ping pong, read, and meet with co-workers. There is a large kitchen with free coffee, tea, breads, snacks, cereals, fruit, and more! Great opportunity for new graduates. The team dynamic and comradery is commendable. They value their employees and promote new ideas. Management and leaders encourage the enhancement of employee knowledge. Care and thought is put into health insurance and they are very kind with employee support. Opportunities for team building exercises. Extremely progressive and caring. If you "fit", you will enjoy your job.

Cons

The pace of the work and the new information they expect you to learn is unforgivable. Your individual area of importance or expertise will NOT be enough. You're an engineer? Great! Now learn about anatomy. An analyst, you say? Awesome! Read these medical journals and learn how to recognize Alzheimer's by looking at a brain scan. While the amenities are in a league of their own, the salary is lacking. They are smart by hiring (mostly) new graduates who are short on experience and lack a mortgage payment. The hours are not pleasant. Some phone shifts do not end until 7 and you must remain on call until the issue is resolved. It is not uncommon for a client issue to take several hours and require the assistance of several employees to resolve. Almost everyone is expected to work several phone support shifts. You are too busy to take advantage of most of the amenities offered. There is a room with arcade games and video game systems but employees only have time to utilize this after hours. Thank you for the free food, if only I did not have to work through my lunch break and enjoy it. While there is a great sense of comradery among co-workers, it very much feels more like a "clique" than a team. Imagine everyone from high school finally being able to create their own lunch table crew. Yeah, even THAT person. Egos tend to be large. Training would be beneficial. They give you one week to self learn by reading and watching old videos. Then, you're dropped in the water to answer phones and assist clients with issues you do not understand. You will be pushed to your limits.

Pros

It feels a little corporatist to say this, but I genuinely feel cared about as a person here. This extends to team members, to my boss, to senior leadership, and even to people outside my team who I rarely interact with. Of course there are exceptions, but on the whole it’s been fantastic. Possibly controversial decisions are often made on the basis of employee input, and I have enough firsthand evidence to know that it’s not just a show. And the care has been shown in how the company has handled situations where people were going through a tough time. The benefits have been excellent, even as the job market is getting more competitive. For example, a few years ago, the company switched from a 0-deductible healthcare plan to one with a deductible, finding that it would be cheaper to literally create an HSA and pay us the entirety of the deductible. And that’s what they did. It’s easy to feel optimistic and secure about the future here. The company has grown somewhat conservatively every year since its founding, and that there’s no indication that that will slow down soon. Personal and professional growth is consistently encouraged. Your own work/life balance is valued. Also just a cautionary note to readers that many people who leave reviews do so because they are currently looking for other jobs. Final note: I was not told to write this review.

Cons

It can be a pro or con at different times, but you will often be pushed. Good communication and organization can be key to achieving the balance you need…but communication most of all.

Thank you for your feedback. I know when I joined MIM that part of the selling point was the benefits. I came from a company that had good benefits, but MIM's are great!

I am sorry you did not enjoy your experience at MIM. Our goal is to create a positive, engaging place to work, but I do realize that we could fall short of that from time to time. I hope that you are finding satisfaction at your new company. In the end, we want our team members to be happy, whether that is inside or outside of MIM.
