Pros

Pay was "okay", just didn't like that we got paid semi-monthly

Cons

The environment was awful. You can't keep a decent phone conversation with a client, becuase all the ladies in there are ranting with curse words, talking down about our clients and how they whine and complain. Clients would request orders and quotes well in advance, and the ladies in the office woul dtake their time processing, and complain they had alot of work, but yet sit around in the managers office chatting away. I , along with another lady were stuck doing everything that wasn't even in our job description. my hours were cut to supplement the managers bonus check for Christmas, I was not aware of the reason for my cut, til a former employee informed me. I requested for my fulltime hours back at headquarters, and 2 days later, I was laid off. Crumy and worst job of my 20 years in the work field!

Pros

It seemed too good to be true. I was hired within 3 hours of first interview and even met the owner - I was overqualified for the position but was promised $30,000 to $40,000 a year by owner (this did not happen - please read below)

Cons

I was fired with 2 other underwriters all in one swoop after only 5 days of work. The owner had promised me the salary above; however, the temporary agency only allowed me $12 an hour. I was told that I had to work 90 days at $12 an hour, before I could get a salary directly from MJ Kelly. The trainer who was training me would start something and then just walk away. I had to basically shadow the other underwriters and teach myself the process. I have been in insurance as an agent or manager of an agency for over 10 years.

Pros

If you can look past the smoke and mirrors, you may find a pro. Some employees have been there a long time. If you keep to yourself, you may do ok. Somewhat of a Christian atmosphere, though hypocritical. Family run company, but they usually don't agree and they do not operate upon the same principles.

Cons

You must come in through a temp agency for 90 days and work your tail off for very little pay. Then complete another 90 day probation, same pay. Then you get only 2 days of PTO for the entire next 12 months and you fight for every minute of PTO you need to actually use. Forget any hopes of a raise. There are cameras and microphones everywhere. You have to watch your back. People cuss like sailors and talk horribly about others.
