The people have been there for a really long time and have a deep respect for each other. They are good people, hard workers.

Cons

They have had many CEO's and executives come and go. The new CEO has cut out everything and prides himself on being cheap. He comes down hard on everyone, but not himself. He talks down to people and thinks that his "awe shucks" style comes across as "I am one of you" but he has a biting temper that his team is well aware of. He only works well with men, and that is why there are no women on his direct reports except for his General Counsel which he doesn't even involve. He likes people he can manipulate and only agrees with him. Don't leave your job to go work for him. Big mistake.

As with any new leadership, it was important to change the culture to help focus the organization on the bottom line and success. This cultural change which included focusing on a strategic product roadmap, simplification of organizational processes and commitments to customers has allowed the organization to continue its success. We are also proud that the average length of service for our employees is greater than 9 years – that says a lot for the work environment.

Cons

Poor management Poor planning Poor organization Poor cost controls Haven't made a profit in ten years. Still in business because they sold off other divisions. They replaced their whole finance department in one year.

In the past 18 months the organization has worked to bring in new leadership to help with the planning, organizational design and cost controls. Outsourcing of manufacturing operations is unavoidable in the new market dynamics and new economy. Those moves along with the strategic decision to sell various business will help continue MRV’s road to profitability.
