Leadership here is a joke!!

Pros

MSI used to be a great place to work. The company offered competitive pay, full remote flexibility, and a good environment for people who were motivated and wanted to grow. There were opportunities to learn, take ownership, and work with smart people across different teams.

Cons

The company has changed a lot in recent years, and not for the better. Senior leadership changes, shifting priorities, and constant reorganization have made the environment feel unstable and chaotic. There is less job security than before, and employees can feel like they are at risk when things go wrong, even if the issues are bigger than one person or team. Growth expectations can feel unrealistic without enough support from leadership. Communication is not always clear, and decisions often feel reactive instead of well planned. Unlimited PTO may sound good on paper, but it can also feel like a way to avoid paying out unused time when employees leave. The average employee tenure is only two years, which is a huge red flag. It is unfortunate because MSI had a strong culture and was once a great place to build a career. But after recent changes, it feels like a very different company. There are still good people there, but the company seems to be going through serious growing pains, and anyone considering joining should be aware of the uncertainty, leadership changes, and lack of stability.

Pros

If you get the right leader, good work/life balances.

Cons

Sick and vacation time are in the same bank so if you use your time for vacation there's nothing left if you're sick. Only allowed to have in your bank what you can accrue in a year so that big vacation that will take 2 or more weeks will have to wait for retirement. Employee turnover is high for this company. Unless you're getting a promotion raises are generally 1% each year.

Leadership Issues

Pros

Was one a great place to work with competitive pay and full remote work. Prided themselves on an entrepreneurial environment, and generally acted upon it. Don’t buy the whole unlimited PTO hype. That just how they avoid paying it out if you leave.

Cons

Recent senior leadership changes caused the place to go downhill in a hurry. Constant and unnecessary reorgs that create more confusion and chaos. Unreasonable growth goals with no support from senior leadership. It’s unfortunate, because it was a great place to work. There’s little job security and you can be thrown under the bus in a hurry if things go wrong. Layoffs happened pretty regularly and arbitrarily in 2024 and 2025. Most of the people who built MSI left due to the changes, and it’s just a very different company than it was 4 years ago. It has a lot of growing pains to get through, and you can expect a lot of chaos in the coming years.
