Work life balance was barely achievable. Very long hours but satisfying work meeting the public. I was glad to be circulating among circles of peers after being out of state for a short while. Great job socializing, made new friends, ate at some great restaurants, free travel to Florida sand New York annually. The team practically ran on its own. I was the go-between. Great communication skill building. A resume building block.
Cons
The team practically ran on its own. Many long time representatives gorged their own goals and path. There wasn’t too much for me to do but be the middle communicator between management levels who were constantly changing goals. The industry is in a major decline; beating last years numbers an impossible, unrealistic task. I often felt like I was working for a hedge fund and strived to attain some very high profits and the cost of maintaining the clientele’s business. A lot of my personal Integrity was lost here to adhere to company’s business plan.
A good way to gain experience esp. right out of college. Nice and financially stable clientele.
Cons
Your only a production number on a bar graph. Cold calls and door to door. Total focus on your book of business, it is a revolving door.
Questionable efficacy of products, clients have to spend a lot of $ to see good
results.
