Pros

Mako offers a first experience in trading working in a nice atmosphere

Cons

Graduate trader learn more how to make coffee than to trade. The systems are outdated and not at all competitive in today's market. The partnership locks senior trader who are not as performant as they once were and not willing to adapt their trading style to changing markets.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. As anyone who works at Mako currently would know, the business is investing huge amounts in technology and expanding rapidly into new markets all over the globe. Furthermore, we are building out an exciting, fresh and multidisciplinary team who are motivated to lead the evolution of trading through technology and collaboration. The graduate trainee trader programme has been very successful over the years and the majority of participants move into impactful trading positions and make a major contribution to the continued success of our business. The programme itself is very demanding and we require bright, adaptable and forward thinking graduates to be a part of our journey.

Pros

Mako works with a very flat leadership structure, very easy to communicate with Head of Global Trading, CEO and CFO are very easy accessible, company has a great bonus structure and gives competitive draws as salaries. very much a no nonsense, do your job and lets have a beer after environment which seems to get the best out of its people.

Cons

The company's trading systems are slightly outdated and are up for a complete make-over to stay competitive in the ever changing market of derivatives

Cons

Outdated tech Toxic leadership Severe disconnect between leadership and employees, leading to good performance reviews and being fired right after Massive staff turnover Hard to actually get work done with timesheets, needing approval from multiple people for small changes, code reviews bottlenecked at a few specific people Low pay and bonus for the industry
