Pros

Free breakfast on Fridays, some occasional lunches, pretty social co workers, some nice events that I was grateful for. These events were not often, but I feel like some people dont appreciate them and see them as expected? Hmm.. oh they are always hiring!!!

Cons

Where to begin... after a few months you feel like your soul has been sucked out and you are just a shell hating your life everyday. That's not a joke either, after being here for a few months I actually reconsidered whether I wanted to go to law school if this is what being a lawyer and working in a law firm was like. Pay is horrid. If you have a degree then do not apply here unless you want to make 40-50% less than what you should. Management was actually pretty kind to me, (I am a pretty personable individual) but treated others around me pretty poorly. Poor Hours and inflexible about sick, vacations, or anything (even dress code). Ah thats another thing- the dress code. I agree it looks a lot better to dress up than to wear shorts and a tee shirt. But I stared at a computer for 8-9 hours a day and saw my superiors only when I passed by their office. Is it really important to look good for my computer screen? No. its not. I have never seen a client within the firm and if they did come by then sure- dress formally for one day but why everyday? A true revision of the policies would make this a better place to work. I knew what it was to truly hate your job.

Pros

Met some cool co-workers that i am still friends with today. Had days where it was mellow and relaxed enough for coworkers to go out for drinks after. Friday breakfasts and the occasional luncheon sponsored by the company were decent perks. Bill Malcolm is very personable.

Cons

This place is a revolving door. Most employees have no expectation of being there long term and management is totally ok with it. This leads to a very low morale working environment where all coworkers talk about behind managements back is how much they hate working there for such little pay. The formal dress code doesn't help anything either. The pay was insulting, the hours were long, this job was an unorganized assembly line. "Lets take in the clients business and figure out the rest later." This approach leads to you having 300 files to work on and furthering you hating being there. This is as entry level law firm as it gets. The attorneys mainly went to tier 3 law schools and couldn't find law firm jobs elsewhere, otherwise why would an attorney take a job for $60k? The paralegals all fresh college grad's who are having trouble finding a job, so working at a law firm sounds like a good start for them

Pros

Flexible hours, and decent benefits. Casual dress..if that can even be called a pro.

Cons

This is a family run firm, staffed by inefficient family members and relatives, which makes it difficult to advance. Legal software and timeslips programs are outdated. This is not a cutting edge firm, and they definitely do not know how to invest in the firm and its human resources to make a better company. The bottom line is MONEY, and every relative holds some managerial position, even though they are completely unqualified for it. If you're looking for a firm that invests in you, look elsewhere. This firm is only a stepping stone to other places. If you have any experience at all, go elsewhere.
