Pros
I met some nice and good people, team players, and willing to help each other.
Cons
I agree with the previous Instructor's review, where MTC worried more about making money and less about teaching. They look at it as a Business, they don't care if students leave MTC with knowledge. They are proud of their high number of graduates, instead of being proud of how many of those graduates became successful later in their profession. I was told that everyone needs to graduate in order for MTC to receive funds from the county. Also, management told us that grades are not that important because they only show how well the students memorized their subject. They don't care what kind of professionals will work in the communities. Some programs like Law Enforcement or Surge Tech do have a serious approach towards teaching, but with some other Programs, it is laid back and everyone gets a participation trophy. They go by "quantity" and not "quality", they will squeeze the maximum amount of students into your class. Besides teaching, there is also pressure for instructors to find jobs for the students after their graduation. Some programs are hiring student graduates who just finished that program and have no experience in that field. Now imagine what that specific instructor can teach others. If you try to improve the program which goes against their business plan, they will easily fire you and replace you with someone who just smiles and doesn't speak out. My advice is that if you're planning to work as an instructor there, consider joining the Teachers Union, as otherwise, you will get thrown under the bus. Regardless of how they may respond to this review, I hope you are prepared and aware of what you're getting into.
