Stay Far Away

Pros

The children were the only things worth anything in this program. Children are amazing.

Cons

If I could give negative stars, I would. This place is an absolute disaster from top to bottom. The HR department is completely incompetent, making decisions without your consent and resorting to outright bullying. The administration is no better—they target and harass employees they simply don’t like. The paraprofessionals are largely uneducated, untrained, and thrown into working with children with disabilities with zero preparation. Instead of focusing on the students, they create endless drama, leaving the children neglected. Professionalism is nonexistent—unqualified, outdated, and uncertified individuals are put in charge, making every day more chaotic than the last. They refuse to pay a competitive wage no matter how much experience or how many credentials you bring to the table. There is no opportunity for growth, no support, and no future here. This is, without a doubt, the most soul-sucking place on earth. If you’re looking for a fast track to burning out and abandoning education altogether, this is the place for you. They will drain every ounce of passion you have for teaching and leave you questioning why you ever started. Stay far away.

Pros

The children are very sweet. Some staff are very friendly. The classrooms are like little families, where everyone pitches in to help each other out.

Cons

Not a lot of space for taking breaks. Pay was relatively low.

Pros

Strong therapy department. Opportunities to work with as an interdisciplinary team. High emphasis on Augmentative and Alternative communication (AAC) and multi-modal communication. Great hours, PTO is gained every month and you have holiday breaks!

Cons

Not applicable, this is a great place to work.
