A fine place to work, but may not be for everyone

Pros

They really support employees with training and education opportunities, offer good pay and benefits, and have a generally positive work environment.

Cons

It's still a public entity, and as much as they try to promote a corporate environment and be innovative and empower employees, it's still got a very bureaucratic vibe going on, where everything last thing is still very centrally controlled from the top.

not a great place to work

Pros

stay away from this company

Cons

They have high expectations and do not give full training. Threaten workers. Will fire you or hire you depending on their mood. The company should be taken a look at by BBB as they are breaking a lot of human rights as they even restrict break times to not allow employees to use a restroom. Absolutely no work/life balance. Senior Management will give preferential treatment. You must kiss some butt to get anywhere in the company. Very poorly managed company. Can't wait for privatized insurance in Manitoba.

Pros

Good benefits, pension, decent pay. Work here if you follow orders well and appreciate structure and routine. Lots of different types of jobs available if you have the education and experience for it.

Cons

Hard work isn't recognized. Bad management is pretty rampant in the corporation, due to the fact most positions are heavily weighted to seniority. There are no rewards or benefits to exceeding expectations, but many opportunities for management to point a finger at someone when they need to cover their own ... yup. It's fairly standard corporate/military environment, follow orders and you will do well but if you resist anything even with valid points that is insubordination and punishable. Ideas for change are not well received as the company is very structured and any change no matter how small takes great effort to get approved and implemented, as such management prefers to kill off most suggestions unless the change comes from above them. Then they fall in line and follow orders, regardless if the idea is good or bad.
