-30 hour work week counts as full time -depending on the position very flexible -kids are generally easier than most rtcs -great opportunities for advancement because of the high turnover lol
Cons
-owner micromanages -lack of professionalism in communication and just a lack of communication in general due to being spread too thin (see micromanagement) -feedback is not welcome at all -rather than make changes in the way they run things they would rather just hire somebody else who doesn't know the difference yet -the senior management gets the final say on HR issues so there is no way to report anything concerning them Let's just say I would not recommend working here to anyone I knew or cared about!!
- great staff, and you build strong relationships with the people you work with
- a more homey environment
- one-on-one interactions with the youth you mentor
Cons
- Emotionally draining
- VERY low pay
- long shifts with little flexibility
if you're looking at this job as a current student, know that if you need to find coverage for shifts or need to take time off, it is very hard to do so. That might put a big damper on college life and the time needed to study for classes.
