Pros
Over the past 5+ years, I’ve had an overwhelmingly positive experience working at Marin Humane. While the compensation is not as competitive as other for-profit industries, the organization makes up for it with a supportive work environment. Senior management is usually receptive to feedback, and I’ve always felt heard when raising ideas or concerns. One standout aspect is the HR department—despite being small, they truly care about their employees, which is rare to find in my experience.
There is also some good flexibility depending on the department and role, with some hybrid options available. This has been a great benefit for maintaining a work-life balance. Marin Humane is a place where the mission of caring for animals and the people who love them is at the heart of everything they do. I’m grateful to be part of an organization with such a dedicated and compassionate team, and I truly appreciate my coworkers.
Cons
Depending on the department, there may be limited opportunities for upward mobility, as it's a smaller organization and staff tends to stay long-term.
