Pros

MarketShare is a company full of promise. The strategy, modeling, and techincal teams are all extremely intelligent and capable. The company has a reputation for delivering results and as a leader in marketing measurement.

Cons

Unfortunately, MarketShare fails to live up to its full promise due to an unwillingness or inability to take on a corporate culture which verges on being THE definition "hostile work environment". I don't know many places where giving KY jelly and a picture of yourself as a gag gift for secret Santa would be considered work appropriate...but at MarketShare it might just get you a promotion. If you like mental abuse and consistent sexual innuendos, by all means. Take a job in MarketShare's NYC office. You'll love it.

Pros

A very small number of people here are very smart. Hang out with them - and maybe you can learn a little.

Cons

Other reviews on this site are absolutely right (except the fake ones which the company seems to have sponsored). Favoritism and bias is everywhere in the Data team. The management is not even discreet about this. Only a matter of time before everyone leaves, and only the Data Management head and her people will be left.

Pros

Some very smart colleagues. Well know in MMM space.

Cons

This review is based on experience as a strategist in New York. Modeling team or LA strategy team might be different. 1. Some horrible senior managers who do not care about employees. I have worked at other places before joining MarketShare NYC office, and I have to say I have never seen senior managers who treat colleagues so poorly. For example, I have seen a senior manager yelling at a colleague in the open space in the office using very abrasive language. Even if the colleague deserved to be fired, the colleague does NOT deserve those kind of extremely unprofessional language and behavior from senior managers. I was so shocked that this manager did this in open space where there were a lot of other colleagues around. Of course, after a couple of months, that colleague left. Situations like this happen again and again. Over time, I've seen this senior manager constantly yells, points fingers, uses abrasive languages, and shows no respect to colleagues. I do not know why this senior manager's behavior is tolerated for so long (this senior manager has been at MarketShare for years). Perhaps this senior manager's boss doesn't know about it, or, the boss knows about it but chooses to do nothing. Either way, it really says something. 2. Hypocritical. There are a lot of inconsistencies in what you hear managers say vs what they actually do. You hear things like "flexible/supportive work environment". In reality, you are on your own and get stabbed in the back. In some cases, they tell lies to client and ask you to back them up. I have been called into meetings and was told to tell client things that were not true. I know senior managers are under a lot of pressure to sell. However, does that justify lying to client? 3. I agree with a few other people's comments/reviews on "Clannish", "Arrogant... especially the senior employees", "superficial", "constant time crunches, bugs/technology issues", "do not join if you are thinking you get to work on analytics", little transferable skills, management only care about squeezing as much as possible from current employees, and the review titled "Company with lots of promise but is stunting growth due to poor leadership". I won't repeat what other people already said here. You can read yourself. 4. When I read some of the 4 or 5 star reviews, I have to say a lot of them sound like what comes from our sales pitch, and what CXO/senior managers say in team meetings. Some are exact the same language. If you are joining as CXO or senior manager, this review may not apply to you. I decided to put a review here because I want more people to know the truth and make better decisions in choosing jobs. Looking for a job is difficult, so we should all help each other out! I hope it is helpful, or I would have wasted an hour of my life.
