I have been working at Marketing Eye full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have been with Marketing Eye for over 15 years. Marketing Eye offers a caring and nurturing team that is creative, professional and fun to work with. I have always been provided with a great work life balance and exposed to a range of interesting and rewarding projects. Marketing Eye also regularly provides delicious weekly team lunches and will celebrate birthdays with cake throughout the year.

    Cons

I have nothing bad to say perhaps a coffee machine in the Melbourne office....

I worked at Marketing Eye full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is a strong bond that you develop with your coworkers when faced with this extremely stressful work environment. The clients are wonderful, and always start off open and excited for marketing their small businesses.

    Cons

The owner of the company. Mellissah Smith is not fit to be running a company, as she is not good with people. She takes everything as a personal attack on her and lashes out and attacks the mental wellbeing of her employees. I understand this comes across as a lone disgruntled employee review, based on some of the other "too good to be true" rave reviews, but i implore you to do more research. Recommended research: Mumbrella Blog - How to manage your (diarrohea-prone) marketing staff Linked In - Look at the long list of former employees for such a small company. and reach out to some of them. Unfortunately a number of them will tell you of their horror stories, or the counselling they needed as a result.

I worked at Marketing Eye full-time

    Pros

Shown me what to look out for in a failing/toxic company

    Cons

Mellissah Smith uses and abuses young employees on minimum wage. All the marketing efforts produced are ineffective and I would be horrified as a client to see what goes on behind closed doors. At times, most often than not, there is more unpaid college students than paid employees. Mellissah goes through cycles of favoring one employee over the other and spreads vicious rumours.

I worked at Marketing Eye full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of clients.

    Cons

Unprofessional management in hindsight evident from the first interview where owner Mellissah spent 15 minutes talking about herself. Within the workplace she breeds an environment of bullying and unprofessionalism and revels in a competitive toxic environment. This is not the place if you are looking for professional development, constructive feedback or a long term career. This company lacks role structure, process and effective teams.

I worked at Marketing Eye full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Clients pay the big bucks to get meetings in their calendars and marketing activities (or lack thereof) executed by grads and foreign students.

    Cons

Unless you are literally starving, and they are the only ones who can provide you with a salary, STAY AWAY. Clients BEWARE. Mellissah Smith will entice you into using Marketing Eye through her empty promises and self proclamation that she is a marketing guru because she write blogs and has 100k+ (bought) followers on social media. That’s about all she does to give the ILLUSION that they are providing a service. Put greedy people without ETHICS in charge and you get Marketing Eye. I advise you to think before you proceed. Marketing Eye’s ways are the closest you get to a modern ruthless form of slavery. The clients either ignore what is going on (most likely) or turn a blind eye (worse). Marketing Eye only cares about making money at the expense of their CLIENT and their precarious WORKERS who are treated ruthlessly. You will find out at your expense if you are fooled by this company.

I worked at Marketing Eye part-time

    Pros

Mellissah Smith is one of the first people that recognised my passion towards and potential in marketing. I will never forget that. Working at Marketing Eye had served me in so many ways. I was made to feel like a family member and I was always welcomed with open arms. The workload was extremely high, however this rarely dampened the energy in the office. The team I worked with were all extremely talented and it wasn't uncommon that Mellissah Smith would reward our efforts with the occasional outing or lunch in the office. When I started working at Marketing Eye, I didn't actually think I'd make it through there. This was purely because I was overwhelmed with the processes, workload and work ethic that is so strongly maintained there. Don't mistake my words though, for within that uncertainty, I learned how to develop myself professionally and discover where my true passions in marketing lie. If I hadn't undergone this dramatic change of pace, I would never have developed these professional skills that I am forever grateful for receiving. I can now say confidently that without the guidance, dedication and diligence of the Marketing Eye team and CEO, Mellissah Smith, I would never have been in the confident and poised position that I am in now.

    Cons

The occasional fued could happen, but this is common amongst all workplaces and nothing was ever personal. It's expected in any high-paced work environment. The important thing was that we all came together at the end of the day.

I worked at Marketing Eye full-time

    Pros

None, zero, zilch. Not even the office is nice.

    Cons

Okay now I know if you stumble across these reviews, surely you'd be thinking these can't all be true, it cant be that terrible, can it? Honestly they are! This company is utterly terrible, and it all stems from the CEO Melissah Smith. She is an egotistical, arrogant, self obsessed horrible woman, who would rather belittle you, talk badly about you, and make you feel worthless any day of the week. The worst part is she will never change, ever. She is too busy talking about how much money she has, what designer clothes she is wearing today, or which celebrity she has dated, while you're trying to work. She acts like a little girl who needs constant approval from anyone, about how she looks and how amazing she is. I know this sounds so harsh but its honestly the truth. Some of the stuff I heard her say in front of everyone made me want to cry, as she is always trying to sell her self, better herself and put herself on a higher class then anyone else. The other complete joke is how the business operates... she has maybe 4 paid marketers and then 20 uni students who she calls interns. The interns get bossed around, talked to like children and given no guidance. The clients would have a heart attack if they knew that the work they were paying marketing eye to do was being handled by students, who were working full time hours for free. If my business was using marketing eye, i'd be wanting the managers/ceo to be the ones that are actually doing the work. Its a slave mentality that should not be accepted. And no its not work experience, because on work experience you don't get treated badly and get given no support or guidance. You learn in an engaging environment, not be pushed into a corner of the office (literally) and not spoken to unless your getting told you didn't do something or your not doing it right. The problem is that Melissah Smith has done well to get the terrible business to where it is now. And now that she thinks it's up and running, she can sit around all day and be the CEO that literally sits around all day and does nothing except distract the team, talk terribly about other workers, and boss and yell at people unnecessarily. I wish I had have read these reviews before I started because it would have saved me so much trouble. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE think about the reviews before you begin employment with Marketing Eye, because I know I never will work here again.

    Pros

Thrown in the deep end of a chaotic environment which means you have to learn quickly. The demanding expectations of CEO can build resilience. As a leader of a business now, I am able to draw on my experiences from Marketing Eye which has shaped the leader I've become (learning from her mistakes).

    Cons

All of the above can be also be negatives. CEO creates an unhealthy and unstable environment. She will be the happiest person in the world one minute and then yelling and screaming at an intern the next. Based on the genuine reviews below, she hasn't evolved or progressed her style.
