Pros

There are no pros when working for M4C except remote work.

Cons

Heavy work load just in your position. Assumptions that you have the extra time to take on additional tasks not related to your position. As a new employee, there is no time to learn company processes because of the additional tasks. No recognition. Quarterly Travel to corporate in VA is a waste of time and money.

We appreciate this reviewer sharing their feedback. We take concerns about workload, support for new employees, and workplace culture very seriously. Our goal is to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow and thrive in their role with a manageable workload that allows for a healthy work-life balance. As a communications agency working on social cause issues, we work with clients that at times require us to react quickly or adapt to new processes. We have clear job descriptions and expectations which includes employees being able to adapt their support as communication needs evolve. At Marketing for Change, we make onboarding, training and professional development a priority. In the rare cases where an employee’s performance continues to negatively impact clients and co-workers, we provide clear feedback and a plan for improvement. Termination is a last resort, and when it does occur, we aim to handle it with transparency and respect. Any claim of abuse is immediately investigated and never tolerated. If the reviewer is open to sharing more about their experience, we welcome the opportunity to listen and learn. Please feel free to reach out to us directly at www.marketingforchange.com/say-hi

Pros

They draw and hire people who are nice, smart, and talented. They give room to define your own role and grow in your own direction. Good with remote work, no RTO mandates. Fairly committed to an inclusive and varied work environment with people of all types.

Cons

Below market pay, and very slow advancement. Responsibilities and workload grow fast, unrewarded. Departments, people, and leadership are pretty siloed (even ivory towered, for some). Attempts at modern autonomous team structures foiled by reflexive clinging to outmoded hierarchical structure. Leadership not really involved or aware, lacking understanding and awareness of the work, skills, growth, productivity, or challenges of employees. Rather disconnected, really. Raises and bonuses halted every presidential election year. Overly fond of talking head meetings. A bit of a cliquey, popular kids' table kind of thing going. Definitely seems being considered likable by leadership is the primary driver for advancement.

At Marketing for Change, we always aim to put our people first. We are glad to see this former employee was able to feel that value in their professional growth and appreciate the inclusive and collaborative work environment. And it never hurts when you are working with a nice, smart and talented team :) It’s unfortunate to hear his employee felt frustrated by their pay and slow advancement. Our salary increases and growth paths are all tied to defined competencies that we make transparent to all employees. For some this allows for rapid advancement. For others it can highlight where their growth and abilities may no longer align with the company. In the last 3 years, over 90% of our staff has been promoted at least once. On average, 32% of our staff is promoted each year. We always appreciate feedback as it makes our company and our culture stronger. We’ll use these insights to examine other places we may improve in the future. If this employee has further feedback please reach out directly (https://marketingforchange.com/say-hi/). We’d appreciate the chance to have a conversation on your experience.
