Pros

The work is challenging and the people for the most part are great to work with

Cons

There is a disconnect between the employees and upper management. They seem to be out of touch with reality. If you enter the position as a contractor, you will likely remain a contractor for several years before they hire you. If you are an older adult and wish to collect a pension, this is not a good place to enter as a contractor. It becomes demoralizing.

Cons

Sad and unfortunate that the Martin County Parks and Recreation Department is far from a 'community-building' atmosphere. It's led by a narcissistic bully and instills fear in other employees. The leader of the department has led his demise to years of controlling others and the ability to use his power to influence others to do the same. Therefore, this treatment made others carry out his dirty work of manipulating others into feeling sorry for her. In this department, the so-called 'leaders' were and continue to be part of his control. He runs the department like a cut-through sales department in the finance world. You are your 'own department.' Sadly, the Human Resource did nothing when a fellow employee was threatened by a manager herself. Leadership at this department sadly and secretly have planned to 'push' employees out when they are of no use to them. Mostly who have been women. It's sad that this county wastes thousands of taxpayer's money on these two people who have only want to further themselves while pushing others to the ground.
