Horribly untrusting of employees

Pros

CCO/CEO and executive staff greeted me warmly. Decent office buildout, although they recently downgraded from the top floors of the RBC Plaza tower to the just floor 9 of the 150 Tower in Fifth Street Towers.

Cons

Major problem leaving early on a Friday, even with work finished and trying to communicate it to the right people. That's a stark contrast to the other ad agencies in the market, which generally trust their employees to get their job done without micromanagement. I wasn't greeted with even a welcome lunch upon joining, nor any HR orientation. Just sat down and given assignments. Technology is old. Laptop was from 2009 in 2016. IT people were friendly, though. Environment feels like a company that's comfortable sitting still with their agriculture clients, not trying anything new or innovative - even when it's right under their nose. Too much staying "safe." If you want to flex your creative muscle, this isn't it. If you want freedom to be trusted to do your work, this isn't it. Unfortunately. Lastly - very low pay. Lowest pay I've ever been offered in the Twin Cities market.

Business going in the wrong direction

Pros

At times can be a fun culture. Try to keep employee moral up by coming up with fun, creative activities. Creative.

Cons

Heads micromanaged by holding company and that micromanagement goes down the chain of command. No one in the organization has any real power, it's all handled in NY. The new open space is depressing, invasive, and not set up for productivity. You feel as if you are constantly being watched, from going to the kitchen, to taking bathroom breaks. No new business. Expect loyalty from employees, but the loyalty is not given in return. Absolutely no diversity, employees are cookie cutouts. Poor, stagnant salaries.

Pros

Great coworkers Easy commute to downtown location

Cons

Very little room for growth depending on your department. And unfortunately some of that growth depends on winning new business which Martin Williams hasn't done in years.
