Great people and mission but poor processes

Pros

Most people at Masabi have a great attitude and are genuinely helpful. There is a lot of industry knowledge and a genuine desire to disrupt the transmit payments space for the benefit of riders and agencies alike. This company is likely to grow significantly in the coming years as long as the company strategy addresses current issues.

Cons

Overall, company strategy often seems confused, with the left hand ignoring or just plain ignorant of what the right hand is doing. Communications leave a lot to be desired, and continually competing priorities could have easily been better planned. In my view, the company needs a complete overhaul of its priorities and working practices, and the C-level team need to actually agree and communicate this.

Masabi Response

It's always such a shame to find out that someone had a "less than a great" experience during their time at Masabi. We take things like bullying incredibly seriously and spend a lot of time cultivating a respectful and equitable culture for everyone. I do hope these views came out in your exit interview so that we could address them, but most importantly, I hope you have found a new role that you are genuinely happy in. If you ever wanted to talk about your experience again, please feel free to shoot me an email and I'd be happy and eager to engage. John

Pros

Some of the people are absolutely delightful. WFH means no more in-person Presenteeism Healthcare package and mental health support. You'll need it.

Cons

Bullying seems to be celebrated in mid and upper management. About as opaque a decision making process as you can get in an organisation that refers to you as a resource to your face. Decisions and responsibilities fluctuate like the wind. Communication is often very disorganised and disjointed. A culture of eschewing ownership - "let's pass the buck until it stops with someone else or falls down the plughole." Some teams have managers that refer to themselves as "queens" in internal wikis. Perhaps not a con if you are into monarchist hierarchies in the workplace, but these days it feels outdated as a business practice.
