Schedule can be brutal, especially with the commutes in the larger cities. Often 12 hour days between work/commute with no dedicated break times. A lot of times, you might not get to take lunch until an hour or two before close
Management can be clique-y and choose favorites. Luckily I was one for the time I was there, but it was discouraging to see how some of my co-workers who had been there for YEARS were treated and talked about TO ME. It felt gross, but I chose to tell my co-workers when this happened and it made them feel even more jaded and unappreciated than they did before.
Pay is wildly inconsistent. I was making $10 more an hour than other recent hires, but hey, I had great experience and some of them had none. But I was also making more than some employees who had been there for a decade plus.
The clothing allowance was barely enough to scrape together outfits for the entire week, since everything was sold to employees at retail and then TAXED as a bonus quarterly. Not transparent about that at all and I got hit with a huge bill after my first 4 months there unexpectedly
Seemingly not much room for growth as they tend to sour on long-time employees and prefer to hire from outside for larger roles when they open up
Turnover was very high
They take things very personally, hold grudges
