      Maxfund breaks labor laws and exploits employees

      Working with animals, the rest of the staff truly cares

      Low pay, they list you as a contract-employee despite having full employment status, they do overtime by the 80 hours, not by the 40 hours, which is illegal, higher up management will call you "worthless" and tell you "no one wants you here" if you try and challenge their illegal practices. Management has no organization whatsoever. Extremely retaliatory. The owner, Nancy, has said blatantly sexist things about "needing a man to be in charge" of the clinic. One of the doctors gets away with saying racist remarks towards hispanic employees and physically shoving the techs.

      Pros

      Helping homeless dogs and cats at the other shelter

      Cons

      Management is incredibly unprofessional. If you do to the manaaer for your concerns/needs, you will be cut off or walked away from. The turnover rate is unreal. People don’t stay working there because of the management system and terrible communication. They need to hire more people to have the dogs actually cared for properly. Instead, we had 3-4 people working a 5 person job. Management won’t help when you’re understaffed. They just keep bringing dogs in (mostly puppies) because they’re money makers for the company. People get hurt, dogs get sick, Nothing is done to help the actual dogs in behavior need...but at least the Maxfund is saving on staffing. There is no advancement or raise increases, either. Even if you are the assistant manager. No benefits whatsoever.
