Pros

Fantastic training modules on dogs and cats that staff must complete on a monthly basis so they can give the correct welfare advice. Staff discount. The satisfaction of successfully helping customers, building a healthy relationship with them and their pets who visit the store.

Cons

Bullying and lies made by staff members get rewarded by hiding the complaints from head office and being promoted. Management sharing sensitive information with non management roles and allowing different rules for favoured staff. Guilt tactics used to convince staff to work beyond their role, and make them feel that they can't ask for required days off without issue, even when they have worked enough hours to earn holiday hours. Head office figures ignore complaints of management bullying staff despite assuring that they'll be looked into.

Pros

You get to see the local pets and sharing knowledge with customers and helping them feels great.

Cons

The company is very nepotistic and are happy to take the easy way out. They’ll promote staff to management without any training and if you hve a problem in store that you can’t discuss with your manager, you don’t feel like you can go higher up as nobody seems to care. It is a toxic work environment controlled by store managers, and head office don’t care to ever check in and make sure staff are ok.

Pros

Good training provided. Nice customers. Staff discount on Maxi Zoo brand items.

Cons

No work/life balance. You might be closing one night and next morning opening. 1 weekend off in a month time and only if you will be lucky. Shifts can be 4hrs a day or 10 hrs a day. Depends how much you will be liked by manager then you might get proper shift. Manager unproffesional. Disrespects staff members, gossips with other employees. Constant staff turn over due to the management. This leads to short staffed and then 2 staff members are expected to cover 4 peoples jobs. Not sure why nobody from the office are questioning why people doesn't stay there.
