Pros

The classes are amazing, with such kind students. Cusco is beautiful. The receptionists, directors, cleaners, fellow teachers are fun to work with.

Cons

The schedule is insane. 7am starts and 9pm finishes. No sick pay. Pointless meetings. Rampant cheating from students goes unpunished because the CEO wants them to keep coming to extract money. Nepotism in the company where the CEO picks his cronies, or children to advance in the company. If you want to advance in the company, you need to suck up to the owners. The wage is ridiculous. We earn $550 which is about it 10% of what we bring into the company. They sell the company on living and working in South America, but you have no time to explore because there are NO holidays. The company culture is terrible, greedy CEOs from the US are exploiting this country! The face of Maximo is the biggest facade. This is not a good company. Most of the reviews here have been written by fake accounts to prop up the rating. In only 6 months here, I ran out of money, exhausted, underpaid, overworked. Do NOT work here. Cusco is beautiful and there are much better schools in the area.

Pros

- Great career progression, easy to rise through the ranks if you're good at the job and open to opportunities. Talent and hard work is acknowledged and valued, they work hard to keep hold of good people. - Visa sponsorship to live in Latin America, easy to move between locations. - Really good salary compared to local cost of living (not a western salary however - great for the area) and good monthly bonuses. The owners (CEO and COO) are hands on and will guide when targets are missed. - I felt supported and well trained here, was given the tools to do my job and often asked what I needed or what was missing to do the job better - Spanish lessons provided for staff, the best perk for working here! Overall one of the best companies I've worked for and gained a lot of experience here, I would work here again.

Cons

- Long hours and weekend work on rotation, expect to work hard at this company. Nothing was unmanageable, and nothing is a surprise - you know what you're signing up for well in advance - but the reality of the job takes time to get used to. - "Always on call" culture is tough, expected to monitor Zoom and emails or be available for emergencies 24/7. Affects peak tourist season most, low seasons are easier.

Pros

gain experience with an international program

Cons

training was not training, It was putting out fires that existed long before I arrived. It was immediately dealing with on the job issues as though I had already been trained. No assistance becoming acclimated to new city/country Must pay for all relocation expenses up front yourself and later are only reimbursed some money for the flight to the country and no offer on return flights for visiting family during your contract time. Was spoken down to by my trainer and quizzed as though I was a student at school while I was learning the policies. I did not have a break my first day there and was told it was my responsibility to make sure I got breaks or took a lunch. Became very ill during first week and was not encouraged to go see a doctor nor did anyone offer to walk me to the pharmacy.
