Pros

Good people, tide of new culture to change customer experience and service, earnest desire to stay focused on fundamentals to make the company great.

Cons

Big company trying to be as nimble as it can , ambition to be like an MNC, but still having to shed "local company" mentality. It can succeed if cultural shift is successful. Board needs to give top mgmt enough time. Transitory perception of top mgmt will cripple it.

Maxis enterprise - as bad as it gets

Pros

Nice office, flexible hours, moderate pay, ok bonus

Cons

List is long - chief of enterprise business unit has no integrity and doesn’t walk the talk. Says one thing and means something else, can’t make decisions resulting in delayed product launches up to 2 years for some products - chief of enterprise is just recycling what he did in his previous life in Telstra - regardless of whether it can be applied in Malaysia or not - basically he is recycling his greatest hits - the heads in enterprise have no idea what they are doing. The head positions are given to any Tom, Rick and Sally even though some have very small portfolios - the Expats brought in to lead the products are so dependant on the local subordinates it’s a wonder why maxis is paying so much for these expats who don’t bring any value and just push others without giving proper direction - processes that are put in place are supposed to help product managers but instead make product managers the sole contributor to all process for products launches including owning the sales numbers - why have solutions sales, sme sales, gov sales and Corp sales then - toxic working environment in enterprise as most of the emmt, ie heads in Ent, do not get along and have no synergy - to each his own - maxis buys companies and then stifles those companies with its processes and ridiculous expectations - the chief of enterprise business is so aloof and stuck up and doesn’t greet any of his employees when he meets them - all and all a “great” working place

The cons outweigh the pros

Pros

Competitive salary, multi-racial and diverse colleagues

Cons

1. U-turn on benefits - What started out as a pay-and-claim and GL medical benefit is now co-pay (such as 5% of fee for hospitalisation). Every clinic visit requires an rm10 fee, and you must get a referral letter before going to a specialist, which is another rm20 fee. Imagine the hassle before a paediatrician appointment. 2. Retaining toxic managers - Exceptional young colleagues are leaving because of the actions of managers that already has one foot in retirement. Despite high turnovers in the team, these managers are still retained with little to no repercussions. Aging staff with low spirits and just waiting for retirement left to do the work. 3. No transparency - Important company-wide information are instructed to be spread by word of mouth. Most information are known through the grapevine. 4. Effort does not matter - Management priority is to “win” and “show me the money”. 5. Fully work from office but with bare minimum comfort - Flexi hours are allowed (7.30am - 10am) but air conditioning is only switched on at 9am, and those who come in early are forced to bring our own fans from home due to poor ventilation. Management instructs for meetings to be done face to face but not enough meeting rooms to support staff needs. Other facilities such as food at cafe, toilets, desk monitors are all in short supply.
