Pros

Maxwell has some awesome employees (most of them are not in management). Benefits are paid in full, even for family coverage (if you are in Boston and take the HMO plan). Pay is on the above average side (but you will work you for it). My coworkers are all in their early 20's and have good relationships and fun outside of work. If you are looking to work at Maxwell, keep checking the website.. they will be hiring soon because people are looking to get out.

Cons

Work/Life balance is challenging. Just because my manager wants to work 24/7 doesn't mean that all of her employees want to. Emails are sent at all hours of the day and night by management. In a "reply all" atmosphere to show everyone what time you are working, that does nothing but add to stress levels and satisfaction. The SVP over my department is more focused on how she can prove her value than she is truly caring about her people. She cares about a few of her direct reports that do special things for her. The product is severely lacking. Promises were made in 2016 for enhancements. Only 1 of those rolled out, and it was buggy. I have to frequently tell my clients that what they want to implement is not supported. It puts our team (and account management) in a terrible position. We recently laid off 15-20 employees, and there were 20-25 employees that left in the previous 3-4 months that were not replaced. As other review have mentioned, the entire company was told a month earlier that we were safe financially. The CEO is very engaged with anyone who will be his puppet. I believe down he cares about people, just not the extent that he says he does. He cares about his bottom line. Management loves to preach about how transparent they are. Transparency is not lying to your employees... For this to be a tech company, its amazing that we cannot seem to get our own technology (like video conferencing) to work correctly. Meetings are constantly started late because no matter which software we use, we do not know how to use it. Speaking of meetings, they never start timely.

A Whirlwind of Change and Anxiety

Pros

Maxwell Health is a young and vibrant company filled with enthusiastic and ambitious people. Most of the office is young and everyone seems to get along well with one-another. The company speaks of high values around diversity and family which is apparent in the people that work there.

Cons

While the office is young and energetic, it creates a weird office culture centered around who you know and what you do there. The leadership team will often appear to be transparent and forthcoming about change but its not actually like that. Over the duration of time that I worked there, a handful of people were quietly dismissed from there roles with little or no warning. This created a lot of anxiety for current employees and further created a culture of fear. Initially they provided one breakfast and one lunch a week, both of which were cut for some reason and with no real explanation. Veer, the CEO is a cool guy and appears to have your best interest but quickly after the initial courting can seem cold and distant. Julie, the head of services, is disingenuous and the company has a lot of questionable practices which only add to the anxiety of "will I have a job in a year?"

Thank you for your note. As Maxwell Health scales and takes on harder problems to solve, the team is going to evolve - we're going to grow, learn new skills and get better at what we do. We'll bring on new teammates with different experiences whose contributions will be important as we grow. And, at times, Maxwell may not be the right fit for certain colleagues. Their contributions are valued but their talents and energy may be better focused elsewhere. All that said, I never want anyone on our team to feel anxious about their position at Maxwell. If you feel that way, please come see me or your manager. Veer P.S. I'm not sure it's fair to say that I'm "cool". I mainly listen to top 40 music and throwbacks from the 80s. I'm definitely focused, that's for sure. But "cold and distant" isn't fair. {a bit hurt, I must admit}... Also, Julie is one the best leaders I've ever worked with. She is an incredible mentor and coach and she's deeply committed to the success, both personal and professional, of every single person on our team.

Layoffs and drop in culture

Pros

Great people (outside of management) Unlimited PTO Some meals included Great people (did I mention that)

Cons

Recently 18 people were laid off a month after the CEO said employees shouldn't worry about payroll, there is enough money in the bank. Today he says there will be no more layoffs and he doesn't want anyone to leave. Clearly management cannot be trusted.
