Pros

Strong friendly and family based offices, both in Durham and NY. Creatives are more than eager to produce and execute great work. The New York office is open, airy, friendly and tight. We need more of that in Durham. Flexible work schedules, some news worthy work.

Cons

Brinegar is the vinegar, as well as most of Durham's 'leadership'. They are old and stuck in ancient ways. Cut off the head and the body will fall. Severe lack of diversity. Affirmative action law was upheld by hiring two African Americans in the NY office and a trickle in the Durham office, no one person of color hold a leadership position. There is only one woman, who holds a leadership position. Raises and bonuses are almost non existent.

Pros

The benefits are pretty good. Some select staff are also extremely smart and compassionate.

Cons

This is one of the most disorganized places in the industry. The company is a ship without a rudder and no one seems to know what they're supposed to be doing. Layoffs have been frequent. Not uncommon for the industry, but instead of one big layoff they keep you on your toes always guessing if you'll be next with their frequent small layoffs every 6-8 weeks. Everything is "performance review" based, but in reality it looks like whoever voiced disagreement or didn't fit a certain mold got the boot. Some of the most talented people that could actually save this place were shown the door. With this of course there's not enough people to actually do the work that's required. They claim to champion diversity but at the same time if you look around you everyone looks and thinks the same. Culture is cliquey and communication is very very poor. Client listing is uninspiring and the accounts to service these clients are not staffed accordingly or with even the right personnel. Nothing appears intentional and salaries are about 15-20% bellow market average. This organization is the definition of "toxic culture". The frequency and depth to how people talk down to one another is overwhelming. This place destroys mental health unlike anything else and it's been said that it's been taxing on marriages.

Don't believe the hype

Pros

Cool office space, good location in a great town. The agency is really good at self promotion (but doesn't actually live up to the promises it makes).

Cons

Inconsistent leadership. Lack of substance (don't believe the press releases). Big egos at the top. The only people who succeed here are those that fall in line and do what they're told.
