Pros

Team members other colleagues

Cons

They treat people like animals, company cars, iPad and mobile phones are ALL TRACKED. They don't trust their employees, extremely poor pay especially for those within the M25. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT OF THE JD, NO MENTION OF VEHICLES BEING TRACKED. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THIS COMPANY HAS VIOLATED HUMAN RIGHTS.

Thank you for leaving us a review. Please be aware that do not actively track our phone and tablet devices but like most organisations we have systems available to allow us to minimise data breaches if a device is lost or stolen. With regard to company cars, McCurrach’s top priority is the safety of our colleagues and other road users. Our Telematics system has been designed and implemented with advice from safety experts to give drivers feedback on their driving and help them stay safe on the road. All drivers have the option of using a privacy setting, so that the company can’t see the details of their movements as long as they drive carefully. Our telematics system has been a major contributory factor in reducing the number of motor accidents our drivers are involved with by over a third. We do have a legal and legitimate right to seek the whereabouts of our company cars, if the location of the car is unknown. This only happens in very exceptional circumstances. If you have further specific concerns that you would like to raise about iPads, please get in touch with one of the Ice Cream team managers, or our Information Security Manager Pat McFadyen at inforsec@mccurrach.co.uk. Thanks.

Pros

Working hours flexible and no weekends, company car

Cons

They will make you go into supermarkets during the lock down for coronavirus. Dont care about the wellbeing of the stuff, as long as you go into stores where they dont need you. Sod your health and that of your family. Total disgrace of a company who has massively upset their entire workforce, on various different accounts up and down the country. Management who are all working from the safety of their home have totally mismanaged this situation and totally misjudged the mood. There will never be trust there and people will now do the bare minimum they have to. Goodwill has gone. Good luck on engagement survey this year

Thank you for your review. I note that you are currently working with us, so I would encourage you to talk directly to your line manager about your concerns. No-one is currently being forced to go into an environment that they are concerned about and we have options that can be considered for colleagues. Government guidelines state that anyone working in the grocery supply chain is classed as a key worker so we are endeavouring to operate as normally as possible to ensure that essentials are available for consumers, as we are likely to be in this situation for a very long time. We are carefully following all government and NHS guidelines to safeguard our colleagues. In response to some of the particular points you raise: - PPE is now being made available to colleagues working in store - Social distancing rules are being reinforced at all times - Our head office hasn't changed and is still the same (old) building we've occupied for a number of decades. However, we have rented a small space in Heathrow for colleagues and client meetings in the South East which may have caused some confusion. If you don't feel comfortable raising these concerns with your line manager, you can contact me at n.obrien@mccurrach.co.uk. Thank you.

Pros

You get a Vauxhall astra estate company car which is tracked. If you use it at the weekend then this is also tracked. You'll be taxed quite heavily on it so it's not much of a perk.

Cons

The pay is one of the major disadvantages. Exceptionally low pay at £18,000 basic (yes there is a lunch allowance of a couple of pounds but no commission or bonus relating to KPIs). To give minimum wage and expect top class performance is ludicrous. The targets and what is expected are unrealistic from my experience. The workforce is generally very unhappy, managers stressed and everyone keeping up the farce that the staff actually make a positive contribution to the suppliers. The last few people who had my job have not lasted more than a few months so what does that tell you? Staff retention is a problem and morale is low. There is no decent training either with everyone basically doing their own thing - the whole thing is disjointed and the left hand doesn't know what the right had is doing half the time. Management generally unsupportive and ineffective from my experience.

Thank you for your review. We have been working hard over the last few years on our pay philosophy, including matching the higher rate of Living Wage Foundation rates across our UK and Ireland operations as a minimum for entry level roles. However, we are keen to understand more about what more we can do. I note that you are a current colleague of ours - if you would like to contact me in confidence to discuss your reviews, please contact me at n.obrien@mccurrach.co.uk.
