Pros

Hard working self-starters can find a niche and grow themselves. At least for a while.

Cons

The culture at MeUndies is bafflingly awful. There are inherent communication issues between the leadership that sadly have left me without hope of every being fixed. I sincerely do not think they are capable of change. Worst of all, I worry about seeing any other talented, genuinely hard working people have to struggle at the hands of their poor decision making. The general schema is consistent with other reviews seen below. There is an outward, inaugural sense of family and inclusivity mostly driven by the Founder's "shiny new object" mentality that drives most of his decision making. Shortly thereafter, one will find that communication breaks down into petty backstabbing and toxic gossiping. Again, the Founder drives this top-down with his emotional decision making. He often behaves dramatically and is radically inconsistent. The CEO is insincere and distracted. Approaching them and taking stock in their promises feels like a lip service at its very best. Additionally, you have to be in constant fear that they will turn around and share private information to inappropriate parties. Or, worse, will terminate you because you challenge their ideology. The People Ops genuinely try their best but are left to much of the same risk. I wish they knew just how often I have to tune out sensitive conversations. Worse, these People Ops are often participant. I feel unprotected -- I also echo the sentiment below that I worried for a long time about speaking up as to the true nature of the brand's culture. The People Ops basically exist to provide frivolous material benefits to help distract from the sinking ship that is company culture. For every catered lunch, fitness class, and overblown retreat, I'd much have preferred you to invest in leadership coaching for the CEO, Founder, and former COO. Honestly, things improved with the departure of the former COO. He was well-intentioned but struggled heftily with authenticity and very much lacked the experience that I'd want if I were sitting on the Board. As a result, the same fraudulent "team building" (mostly driven by corny sports analogies or an overused quote) worked well to drive conformity on the surface, while breeding real toxicity just below. I do agree, however, that it's very much true that he was the only piece keeping the train on the rails. I sincerely implore those in charge / those considering application study these reviews with utmost care and consideration. I am taking the time to write this because I care about your employees wellbeing and I want to see the company succeed. You have the talent. Now you need the leadership to drive the brand to the next level.

Pros

underwear, socks and shirt discounts

Cons

I'm glad people are finding the courage to speak up in the recent reviews. Look closely, most positive reviews were posted within weeks of each other. This is because people ops guilt tripped people into writing to attract more candidates. In fact, most of the positive reviews are written by the people ops or leadership teams. There is a toxic group-think prevalent at MeUndies in which employees must drink the kool-aid or be pushed out. Leadership claims to support constructive feedback & challenging status quo -- it's all fake rhetoric. They will scheme your demise behind your back if you dare to challenge. And, they will not warn you. They are out for themselves, not you. Please beware. I agree with another reviewer's comment regarding the facade of "family." It is not a family, it is a immature high school. Gossip is rampant. People are investing far more time & energy in politics than the customer. If you challenge fellow coworkers with logic, you will be lectured for not being a team player. To thrive at MeUndies you must be a politician willing to make bad decisions sometimes if that's what management wants. You cannot be too passionate or care too much. You must disconnect from what your experience tells you is right, smile & execute robotically. You can't be in it for the customer.

Hey There, Ellen here. As you may know, ensuring we have a company culture where team members are happy, comfortable, and excited to work every day, is something that is extremely important to me. I find it disheartening that your experience doesn’t seem to be consistent with the environment we hope to provide employees, and for that, I am genuinely sorry. I would love if we could have the opportunity to discuss further (whether in person, on the phone, or whatever feels best for you) to better understand your feedback and what we as a company can do to improve the experience for team members moving forward. While many other Glassdoor reviews do indicate a different experience than yours (and I promise they were willingly written, and not by People Ops and leadership!!) we do take your feedback seriously and I do want to better understand why you’re feeling this way. Please shoot me an email at ellen@meundies.com, and we can setup some time to talk. Ellen

Pros

Genuine people and relationships that you build.

Cons

Are you seeking chaos? Below-market compensation? How about the forced misrepresentation of culture by an out-of-touch management team? Well, you've got it all here. And before you think, "What is this person talking about? This company seems awesome"! Trust me, I thought the same thing. First off, the "CEO" knows best. He will exemplify this by overriding department heads, including managers, directors, VPs, and his puppet C-suite. The company had a pattern of hiring great people. The people working there are young, talented, creative, and caring. But they don't last long. How can you grow when you are micromanaged and questioned about every decision? I admired the brand before I worked here and was genuinely disappointed when I resigned. I will truly miss the relationships I shared with my colleagues, but most of them were gone before me. My advice to management? Work on retaining talent rather than replacing them with contractors who are there to collect a paycheck. Revisit the C-suite, the people, their goals and actions. Listen to your employees and let them do the job that they were hired to do. Lastly, to potential candidates, keep looking elsewhere. Your mental health is worth more than the workload, stress, and anxiety you'll deal with here.
