Pros

LOVED the co-workers in my local office. Enjoyed meeting and interviewing candidates. Loved the feeling of placing someone in a job they liked.

Cons

Management in Houston was a joke. Nepotism everywhere--all of the owner's kids have "VP" or "Director" in their job title somewhere--including the recent graduate whose sole job was to send out recipes and health emails. Constant emails from senior leadership about how liberals are evil and how liberalism is a mental disorder. Enjoy super long prayer at team meetings? This is the place for you. One member of senior leadership is quite obviously abusing alcohol. The organization internally is quite xenophobic, likely only slipping under the EEOC radar because of the fact that they employ a large percentage of women, and because they can report the temporary employees they place in their count. A person was deemed "not a fit" if they were obviously not a Christian. I saw great people get quite obviously shunned because leadership didn't agree with their lifestyles or circumstances. Absolutely zero room for growth, especially if you didn't attend church regularly and play the game with senior leadership. Pay was waaaaay below market, even with experience. You were expected to be on-call always...not going to happen at such low pay. Hikes in our insurance premium were blamed on "Obamacare". Mistakes made by accounting when calculating insurance premium contributions were somehow then held to the employee's responsibility to pay back. One member of senior leadership raised her voice with me and spoke to me in an extremely disrespectful manner because there was a stain on the carpet. As I am not a janitor or the building maintenance manager, I was not aware that I was personally responsible for carpet stains. At that point, I was done. I have a great HR background and have had a great job since leaving Meador. No one deserves to be treated like dirt wiped off the bottom of a shoe, and that's exactly what Meador leadership will do if you're not a WASP.

Thank you for taking the time to put your thoughts together and provide feedback about our company. Know that we do take these issues very seriously and this is a learning effort on our part to navigate change, so thank you for your feedback to help guide us. I am sorry you have these feelings about Meador and your time here was not as positive as we’d hoped. Thank you for the opportunity for us to learn from some of these things you point out so we can move ahead a better workplace. We are currently—as we speak—addressing many of the things you touch on in your review during the reinvention and restructure of our company. With our company culture and employees in mind, we do think of the future and the leaders of this place that has served our communities for almost 50 years. We hope for 50 more and strive daily to create a future for this place that is 100% for the people we serve and employ. The wellbeing of our employees is a high priority and we have made changes internally to support that by listening to what it is our employees desire from working at Meador Staffing. Meador is a family-owned business that draws life from the Christian values it was founded on; those are two things that are no secret to those who join the Meador Staffing family, nor are they things we shy away from. They are the cornerstone of the bigger picture of what we do as our core values. However, we want to be a workplace and an environment that cultivates, fosters, and keeps a safe space for employees, where they feel they are supported in the teams they serve and as individuals no matter what their beliefs are. We are disappointed Meador Staffing was not able to meet your expectations as an employer and wish the best to you in your current role.

Pros

Not many to name, though I will say there was at least one senior manager that treated people like human beings, regardless of their views. Unfortunately this person was constantly worried about saving their own skin because of the hostile environment created by the owner. Outside of that, there are some really good people scattered throughout the organization if you look hard enough. The team I worked with was amazing.

Cons

So many negatives here. As a previous reviewer said, nepotism runs rampant. And those who are not family either come from church connections or marry into the family - soon after earning higher rank within the organization. The level of hypocrisy, bigotry and good ole fashioned "values" is almost indescribable. As another reviewer wrote, daily (yes, daily) emails from the owner himself about the evils of liberals, Obama and anything else outside of so called Christianity. The owner even wrote a company-wide memo (3 full pages) on how everything was going to hell after Obama was elected last term and all of our jobs were in danger. He was notorious for sending political propaganda that made even some of the less fanatical of the group uneasy. Yes, you are very clear that your company is founded and run on Christian beliefs. I hardly think that opens the door for a no holds barred, fairly hostile approach to anyone who does not fit that mold to your unattainable standards. I'm happy to be long gone from the tyranny of the Meador clan and would've left well enough alone. Except hearing that another person dealt with enough of the same to take the time to write made me feel the need to share as well. This shouldn't be swept under the rug. I saw good, honest people treated like dirt daily and everyone just accepted it as the norm. Shame on you, Meadors.

As always with any feedback, thank you for taking the time and energy to write this review. Our organization, 47 years in the making, is always looking for ways to improve upon the services we offer, culture we provide, and legacy we leave behind. On behalf of the company, I do offer my condolences that your time with us was less than what you expected, although it is good to hear you enjoyed working with your team. You mention you support issues quoted by previous reviewers: nepotism, politics, and religion. Again, on behalf of the company, I’d like to speak to those disputes you have and hopefully shed some positive light on your passionate feelings. A family-owned and operated business was a part of the vision Mr. Meador had when he created the company in 1968. Family will always be a part of the business and the family members who are employed with the company honor, respect, and work diligently to protect the family name as well as the legacy Mr. Meador has worked and fought for throughout the decades. Respectfully, the political insight the owner shares is most definitely not out of hate. Anyone who knows the CEO well knows without question that hostile, tyranny, bigotry, and hypocrisy are words that would never be associated with him. Being a business owner and seeing economic trends shift and shake, his desire is to support business and the growth of jobs. Being a business owner, he wants to see those two things protected. A healthy economy where business is thriving and job growth is encouraging are the life support of what Meador Staffing relies on to continue its purpose. Meador Staffing makes no secret that we are a Christian company. The values Meador Staffing encompass are rooted in treating people with respect, love, grace, and mercy. And, those who work for the company try to demonstrate those qualities every day; however, we aren’t always going to get it right. We pray that we come close to doing so, but we aren’t perfect. What we can do is submit an apology for making you feel that you were not part of an organization that respected, supported, or treated you with grace and mercy. Again, on behalf of Meador Staffing, I want to extend that regret to you. One of our goals as a company is to create a safe place for its employees where they do feel valued, and if we did not meet that expectation for you, we can take that in to consideration moving forward in to the next 50 years of service. We wish you the best in your current and future endeavors. Thank you, again, for your time and thoughts.

Pros

Getting the experience and moving on the bigger and better things.

Cons

Most individuals working her have good hearts but unfortunately there are a few individuals in management that shouldn't be. If you have any opinions that don't line up with theirs then you are looked upon as an outcast and when they finally have something to hold over your head they go and tell the CEO who lets the managers decide what to do with you. And if you try and get in touch with the CEO it is too late because they have believed everything the manager has said about you.
