Pros

None. I don't feel at home and I dreaded going to work there everyday.

Cons

Biggest flaw with the company is, resistance to change and progress. With outdated processes, and a very cringe worthy and simple information scoping from their clients. Don't let the name "Digital" fool you. They can wow you by speaking nonsense and jargon just to impress you. Small team, less than 5. Don't let them tell you otherwise, about having an overseas office, they are just a freelancer / partner working in malaysia, with 2 more freelancers. Severely short staffed, because the Owner would rather spend his money on modding his car than to invest in the company. Owner thinks he knows a lot about web development, e-commerce and digital marketing. Resistant to change, and likes to throw tantrums. When things happen, he berates the employees and talks them down, instead of motivating them to do better. No career opportunities. You'd probably do better as a food delivery rider temporarily while searching for a proper job.

Dear ex-employee, Thank you for the feedback and appreciate the time taken to provide this review as it presents us with the opportunity to improve further. It is with ultmost regret that the precious time you spent with MediaPlus Digital was unpleasant. We sincerely apologize for not being able to do better during your time with us. We understand that you may have joined us a couple of years back when we were still a very small start-up with less than 5 people. At that time, there was no culture in the company, processes were not in place and we do agree with you that there were little room for career growth. We believe this is the same set of issues many other new/ startup companies would face during the initial stage. Moving forward to current day, we have grown and have 30+ employees in 2 offices in Singapore and Malaysia. At the same time, we are actively seeking talents to join our team in both offices. With such growth, it only means that the company has sustainable revenue base with diversified clients from different industries who have trust in our services and seen the results that we delivered. - We now have structured workflow processes in place that increase efficiency and productivity. We have seen employees being able to grow faster and work processes have proven to be more efficient. - Furthermore, we are also in the progress of rolling out programs to allow our employees embark on a continuous learning and upgrading of skills journey. We value our employees and want them to grow along with the company’s growth. - In addition, we do not only hire experienced candidates but we offer opportunities for new graduates, people who are seeking career switch or individuals who are passionate about the digital marketing industry. - Lastly, one of the partners does have a strong passion for cars since early age and he is equally passionate about the agency’s development and growth to provide effective web development and digital marketing services for clients. In fact, one of the company’s goal is to help our clients grow their business and to ensure the long-term continuity for their businesses. We apologize for the unpleasant experience you had in MediaPlus Digital and sincerely appreciate your reviews. If there are opportunities in the future, we hope you will consider working with us again. Meanwhile, we wish you every success for your career. Yours sincerely, The Management

Pros

The colleagues there were really nice. There were many talented individuals that not only excelled in what they did, but also brought much fun and laughter to the otherwise mundane work.

Cons

The boss cannot lead a company. He is constantly sabotaging the efforts of his own employees by making bad decisions and being extremely stingy. He is also very protective of the sales team and constantly defends them at the expense of the rest of the team. During meetings, he also has the tendency to throw team members under the bus. Career opportunities are low and increments are very minimal. There is also not much training and structure available. Benefits are at bare minimum, and while both boss and HR likes promoting "family" culture by "helping each other out", all it does is just enable the underperformers to continue underperforming and good employees end up being overloaded with additional work for the sake of "helping" underperforming colleagues. When asked to hire additional headcount, this request is always rejected because the budget is always low. There's almost no diversity because the boss has internalized racism and trust issues. You also better pray you were born under lucky stars because one of the criteria for our hiring is that you need to have a good reading by the boss' fengshui master. I wish I was kidding.

Dear ex-colleague, Thank you for the feedback and appreciate the time taken to provide this review. Your inputs are much appreciated and taken into consideration as we value our colleagues and wish to provide a good working experience for colleagues current and future. We would like to share our thoughts and perspectives. MediaPlus Digital began as a two-man team and over the years we have grown to a 50+ pax company with an organizational structure in place consisting of different teams and departments for specific roles and responsibilities. We have built processes and systems around each department which has helped to give better transparency and at the same time it allows challenges to be identified, giving us the opportunity to understand each issue deeper and further improve the processes on an ongoing basis. As the company grows, new opportunities and challenges would arise. A 50+ pax company with engaged employees would benefit from better problem solving, innovative ideas and a happier working environment. However, one of the downsides of a bigger team is that decisions tend to be slower. Our perspective is that not all issues have an immediate solution and not all solutions are perfect. Sometimes it takes a couple of trial and error, and many refinements of processes until we find the solutions that best suit the current situation. The culture at MediaPlus Digital is that we value our employees and for staff who are performing well, we endeavour to show appreciation and further uprise him/she. On the other hand, we guide and help colleagues to understand their weaknesses and discuss how they can further improve. Some of the current initiatives/processes that we have in place includes the ones listed below. We: • Quarterly check-in for staff and their superiors, performance appraisal that identify colleagues strengths and challenges to better develop and guide them, and 360 peer reviews to balance inputs from bottom up /top down • Anonymous Employee Feedback Platform • Internal and external training courses for upskilling. • Access to various online training modules for our colleagues which will help in their growth • Team bonding through gatherings (e.g. BBQ, Christmas Party, CNY Dinner, and company dinner) • Long tenure awards/Performing Staff Awards Well-structured interview process To your point on Fengshui, candidates are not hired based on Fengshui. They are required to go through a stringent interview process, proving their knowledge and skillsets before we get them onboard. We do use Fengshui for office layout which is very common these days. Once again, thank you for your feedback. We wish you every success in your endeavours. Yours sincerely, The Management

Pros

Compared to most companies in this small town, the managers were flexible in terms of WFH arrangement and typically agencies are great for expanding your skillset. There's some improvement in terms of processes as well compared to when I just entered. The managers and colleagues of the same department who I've worked with closely were quite open in terms of communication and letting you know areas of improvement, etc. Oftentimes, they were willing to step in and help out if they knew you were struggling.

Cons

1) Environment-wise - the office supplies provided and amenities are okay. However, as time went by the office space felt a little crowded since more people joined. Cleanliness can be questionable as well when some don't follow office rules. Colleagues should learn to respect each other's spaces (sometimes you'll find crumbs or rubbish on your table that isn't yours to begin with). 2) Culture-wise - some can get quite cliquey and throw attitude if things don't go their way (eg: If they get called out for certain things). Which often leaves a few others uncomfortable. More professionalism should be shown through any conflict and relevant parties should speak properly instead of sneering or creating office drama. If work-related, communication among certain teams should also be improved to lessen shortcomings. Some should also improve in terms of taking accountability and not always throwing people under the bus. This is a HUGE issue that I noticed. 3) Work-wise - still a LONG way to go in terms of improving the processes and training. I believe more training should be invested in the MY team. When I entered, there wasn't any proper training and processes, so I had to learn everything from scratch. Luckily, my teammates were big on supporting each other. For the job scope that I did, there should be more improvements in terms of setting proper expectations and boundaries with the clients to avoid some taking advantage of situations. Managers are okay in terms of helping out with communications and mediating difficult clients, but the issue stems from overpromising clients in the first place by Sales. Then you have parties who "ok can" everything, but if anything goes wrong, you get the blame. The easiest way to say it is if they can squeeze you dry, they will! 4) Salary and Benefits - Salary offers could be improved especially if you are offering people with at least a few years of experience. Also taking into consideration the rising cost of living and inflation despite the conversion rate. Benefits-wise, the bare minimum and capped amount cannot cover at least 50% of the visit cost. Finally, "The Boss" - Would appreciate more consideration and appreciation to be shown towards employees and their hard work. A boss shouldn't compare their level of expertise with their subordinates with only a few years of experience. Every individual works at different speeds and levels. The boss should improve how he communicates with staff as well. Your tone and choice of words can make or break how people perceive you. Sometimes, professionalism can also be thrown out of the window. There were a few times when the boss didn't take accountability for their actions and threw people under the bus even though it wasn't the other person's fault. You can be blamed for doing something (according to his instructions) if the client is unhappy with it. Micro-manages like crazy and tend to disregard/disrespect your time (eg: request you to generate a report ASAP - that he has access to and can do so by himself which takes less than 5 mins - while you're stuck in a meeting or prioritising other work). Will squeeze you dry for the sake of appeasing clients' ridiculous requests if possible. Likes to also use terms like "code of conduct" loosely for small mistakes without hearing the other party's reasoning.
