      Pros

      This was a good company when I started. The supervisors were top notch and on your side and the equipment was first rate. It has back slid since then, but some of that can still be found.

      Cons

      There is so much. The best example is that rather than give the employees the raise in minimum wage that was mandated by Chicago law, she began to combine call bonus with regular pay so that it averaged out to the minimum wage. The owner is currently screwing her employees out of minimum wage.

      Pros

      If you work at South Garage, there is limited interaction with Supervisors

      Cons

      Ever person you interact with who is not an EMT, for the most part, is an absolute nightmare to deal with. Everyone is walking around trying to see if there is something they can write you up for. I pride myself on professionalism and attention to detail, but that level of scrutiny from employers doesn't lead anywhere good. Ultimately, this is a terrible place to work because the majority of supervisors don't know how to communicate or lead.

      Pros

      -Flexible scheduling, -low pressure, -work as little/much as you want -Gain relevant experience to move on to bigger/better things!

      Cons

      -$11/hour EMT-B starting rate -Long shifts averaging 13-14+ hours. -Call bonus is $4.50/call. However, the company takes advantage of their employees and does not pay this call bonus for "lift assist" calls, or medicar transports, instead they will misuse BLS crews when the medicar is not available. Basically, the call bonus is misrepresented and should not be counted on as consistent income -6 day orientation is useless for the most part and does not prepare you for the job. -Executive leadership threaten and intimidate staff against joining labor unions (probably so they don't have to pay livable wages) -Your initial uniform set costs $150, (for cheap polyester shirts) so MedEx deducts bi-weekly in $30 increments from your paychecks to recover the cost.
