Painful work culture

Pros

Decent pay if you are liked by management

Cons

Upper management is very strict and unfair, starting at the very top. It's a fear based management style and employees are too stressed out to work hard. Company used to be a lot more stable and fair (despite the president) and kept good employees for a long time. With big changes in upper management and a drastically different company mindset, it's opposite now and they can't hire or keep good employees like they used to or they just don't know how anymore. Used to be a great company but changed drastically in past 4-5 years because the great managers and directors left. Company was also going places back then and now it seems to be going nowhere. Its a sad story of a once great company with potential who threw it all away because they didn't value or appreciate their people.

Great co-workers, clueless management

Pros

*Great co-workers, challenging work, fun environment *They practice what they preach - recycling, composting, reducing energy usage, renewable energy (solar, wind, etc.) - really cool to be a part of that! *Solid business units - you can be proud to work there *They hire smart people (sadly, they don't use them to their fullest!) *People outside the company respect it - nice to work for a company that has the reputation it does

Cons

*Management really doesn't like to hear the truth, particularly the owner, especially if you have any kind of criticism - he takes things very personally and you will be marked as a traitor from that point on *Hire smart people then don't use their smarts - as an employee, you are constantly undercut by management, particularly the owner who thinks he knows more than you do just because he started the company in his basement *Work/life balance is encouraged, but you will be criticized for maintaining it! *Constant calls from vendors looking for their payments *Company preaches ethics and integrity but they do things that are questionable *HR doesn't keep confidences - careful what you tell them *Check your pay stubs carefully each pay period! Document any inconsistencies. *Squeezing more out of less...layoffs, people being taken to part-time...does not instill a lot of confidence and employees are beat.

Could be better

Pros

If your okay with alot of travel, it's a great job to have. Because the company is still small they will send you everywhere. Most of the other guys are pretty helpful when you run into problems and have to call someone. pay is decent but you have to work there awhile to make good money. Mr. Davis and Miss. Bradley did good jobs trying to connect with field guys making them part of the team.

Cons

Had to rely on calling other guys or managers for help because office staff most of them didn't know anything. Not very much room for moving up or into other roles unless your sleeping with a manager or vice versa. Sad to see higher ups look past that behavior especially when everyone knows and talks about it.
